I've been looking at the GT42r. With that turbo I don't really expect that much of a power band, however I would like to do as much as I can to get more. Now on a 2.4l motor what compression would you suggest? Some have said 8:1 others 9.5:1. I would just like to hear from people with experience and knowledge on this subject.

 

you may want to mention what the car is being used for? DD? track only? etc

 

I want it to be able to drive to the track. I won't really daily driver it. Maybe on the weekends for some fun.

 

I'd go with a GT45R at least... 12:1.

looking for that 800-1000hp? Good luck. With 8:1 compression your bottom end is going to be gone but the only reason for buying that monster turbo is for raw power. Have fun driving that on the street specially when you have to get a unsprung hub.

 

we are running 9.0:1 on alcohol with our hotrod car.(non intercooled 820 to the tires @ 37-38 psi)
