Default GT37?

I was in the process of buying my GT35R when the person I am buying it from is trying to convince me to go with the GT37, he said it makes alot more power with only a 200rpm difference in spool? its only like $100 less then the 35R

I have never heard of this turbo?

I think the gt37 is supposed to be a truck turbo.
Its Goofy

The turbo that would be the Equivelant would be the gt3767 and the spool is much much later over a gt35r

err. wrong. i will be running one. the only difference between the gt35r and the gt37 is the gt37 has a slightly larger comp wheel (82mm, at least on the one im having built) the garrett engineer i have been talking to says spool time vs. the gt35r is only 200-300 rpm. ball bearing isnt like some big night and day differnce folks. and considering im having mine cermaic coated along with my mani, spool should be on par if not better than a gt35r.

the same gt37 i will be running saw full boost (28psi) by 4800 rpm. factor in that dsm heads dont flow as well as ours and i have equal displacement... there ya go
(72.5mm exhaust wheel in a t3 .82ar housing, 82mm compressor wheel in an s-housing)

rememeber i told you first. the gt37 will be the next sc61

The GT37s we carry come only with a 1.12 A/R.

the Gt37 off of PTE price list is a non Ball bearing unit, is good for 750 hp
comes with a 76mm or 82mm compresor wheel and 52 trim.

the difference is that your talking to a GARRET engineer and im talking about what i see from PTE, given i could be wrong, but i do remember hearing some goofy **** about it.

well, the pte site has always been fubar'd in my opinion.

i had a garrett built, same thing just different housings.

but the 76mm comp. wheel is offered with a t3 turbine and the 82mm is only offered with a t4 exhaust housing. i had mine custom made, so we shall see how it goes on my 84.5mm fully built (head and block) ls.vtec

oh, youre looking at the actual print out. hmm, i can imagine there is some crap flying around about it, that can be found with any turbo.

I know a bunch of ppl that have chosen the gt37 over the gt35r. but its all about personal opinion.

Yes I agree, Like you said You had it custom made, Im sure its not the standard off the shelf turbo that Im thinking of.
They are many variations of a lot of turbos out there.
The reason i say is like posted above, i had thought it came with a giant Exhuast housing and failry small compressor as compared to say a 67mm turbo or a 71mm turbo. Which would be why i said its truck turbo or something of that nature
the 42r that we have only has a 1.02 a/r on the exuast side and its an 1100 hp turbo with a 74mm compressor wheel from what i remember

the 76 or the 82mm compressor listed from PTE is going to be the exducer of the compressor wheel. So the inducer is much smaller than you what you problay think.
PTE has weird Ways of denoting their stuff.

yea, in the pte online catalog its a t4 housing thats like 1.15 or something. so yea, i would assume that to be a truck turbo or a track turbo

i've also noted their weird ways of listing things... makes me think too hard, lol

Isn't there anyone else running this turbo?

I'm also lookin to run it on a 1.8 liter vtec. I'm interested in the one with 82mm compressor and 72.5mm turbine in a .63 T3 housing, also custom build.

I think this is the compressor map...doesnt look bad.
http://www.atpturbo.com/root/maps/gt37.htm

I want it to give me 15psi before 6000rpm and i thinks its possible.

i actually changed my decison and went with a slightly different exhaust side. supports 600whp, should get me 500 around 18psi using the gt37 compressor side and on a test motor without the ceramic coating, positive manifoldpressure was seen around 3400rpm
