Turbonetics turbo or a Precision Turbo
I have a choice between the Turbonetics turbo and a Precision turbo.
The Turbonetics turbo is about $150 more then the Precision turbo. Is it only the name that makes it more or is there other reasons for it?
What one is more reliable and will last longer and be better
I am going with a 62-1 Turbonetics or a SC60 Precision turbo
Is there any difference between the two?

Yes it is. I'd go with the turbonetics unit. They just have more options with their turbo's. I wish they would go full ball bearing though. Those Garrett unit's are pricey, but they are worth I just don't have the cash.

I'd go with precision. The provide great service and have an outstanding warantee. I've never heard of anyone complain about faulty precision turbos on the domestic message boards I visit. I wish I could say the same about turbonetics.

that I can't say. precision is secretive about what they actually use. but i do know that if Harry Hruska picks out your turbo you can't go wrong.

ud need an sc54 not 60 for the size ur lookn for. for some odd reason it goes from sc40 straight to 60's then the 50's are on the higher end hp.

Heres some pics of my SC32 going on my Built ZC....
Just compare the quality of this turbo to other turbonetics stuff. IMO, It doesn't even compare! Precision is SO much better! Plus you can size Precision turbos more accuratly to your setup/goals then the 62-1.
I Mine!!!

The SC60 is huge. It is way bigger then my SC32.
Precision says the SC60 can support over 700HP.

the sc60 is smaller than the sc54. the sc54 is the largest of the t3t4 setups. it supports 620 hp.
heres my sc54

Go with Precision for service Before, after and during the sale. Turbonetics is terrible for service. That's been my experience. Or call Terry at Innovative, he takes good care of me.

so pretty much everyone is saying go with the precision turbo over anything else then i see.
and about how much more lag be from the sc54 to the sc60?
and about when you get full boost and how much boost will it be?

Re: Turbonetics turbo or a Precision Turbo (boostfedb18)
yeah, turbonetics service is the worst IMO it makes you feel bad for buying their turbo. I have a precision SC60 it is the next size smaller than the SC54 like Roby's
couple of comparison, I know this is not 62-1, but here it is...
the SC series, is pretty much the same as the T3/4E family, but comparison are...
SC60 has 7 blades on the compressor side compare to 6 blades on the garret side
SC60 turbine outlet is 1/4" bigger than the garret ( same housing .63AR)
SC60 blades design is far more aggresive than the garret, almost just like comparing 50 trim to 54 trim on t04e garret
Precision inside housing is honed ( maybe extrued honed) far smoother than garrett).
the SC60 is on a different family than the SC54 turbo, the minor diameter of the SC60 is larger than the SC54 but again, they're both 2 different family...SC54 will support more HP than the SC60, think about it as 60 trim T04E and 60-1, same size, but different family...
if I were you, go with the SC54 if you're looking at the 62-1. I will give you guys an update on the comparison of the way SC60 feel versus my old T04E.
Also, Arturbo is having a special, all turbo order will get a free t-shirt, and He's coming out with turbo setup all the SC family from SC32 to SC60 and SC54 for 800 bucks shipped with oil feed line kit included
Overall Precision is better turbo for the value and there is really no comparison, because they're both 2 different turbo, is like comparing a KKK and Garrett or Greddy turbos...different turbos...

Turbonetics won a contract bid to supply ALL OEM Turbo for chrysler....that's basically their main bread and butter, suddenly all the smaller distributor become a non existent it seems....to them
