Default GT30R Question

Any of you running a straight GT30R? How are spool characteristics and what is your setup. Curious on seems to be a great compressor, but comes in a .82 T3 side? Isnt that a little large?

I dont think i would run a straight gt30R the exhaust side is too big IMO. However there is a few companys out there that make hybrid gt30's, like forced performance's FP3052, a very popular turbo in the DSM world.

with a DSM flange

with a t3 flange

I should also add its a sexy looking turbo...

I never ran mine, but remember that this turbo has much more advanced wheel characteristics than a T3/T4 and you can go larger on the A/R without lagging. The GT and T series aren't directly comparable because of the updated wheels/ball bearing center section.

I've had AWESOME experiences with both the GT Journal Bearing and Ball-Bearing center sections on the GT35E, GT3037, GT32E and several others, because of the fact that they are predictable in their powerband and are much more efficient than just the standard T3/T04 combinations. They are worth the extra money for the highly efficient bearings and durability

straight gt30R isnt that big..the exhaust side is actually quite "small" will choke the bigger turbos (such as the gt40 comp wheel) in the 500 hp range.

Check out http://www.atpturbo.com

They can get almost any Garrett turbo you want and them some. They even have T3 flanged GT series BB turbos so you can't bolt it up to your existing T3/T4 maifold.
