Default gt28rs

hi,
can anyone tell me how fast (by what rpm) it reaches 10psi boost out of the compressor (not after IC drop), and what turbine A/R you're using?
I'm thinking of using one of these on my b18c but I think that I may be over the surge line.
Any input on this choice (street performance, goal is less than 300 hp) for my b18c? looking for 8 psi, intercooled, at the manifold on stock internals.

thanks

You won't surge it. They don't even spool up that fast with the 0.86 A/R turbine, and the compressor isn't all that big(300-310rwhp max on an SR20DET).

I know you Honda guys don't like small turbines, but if you want fast spool and capability for about 350whp, go with a GT2871R with a 0.64 A/R T25 turbine. If you want a T3 flange, get the 0.63 A/R GT3071R, that will probably be good to about 400whp.

The GT28RS is just too small of a compressor for the turbine size. If you ever want more power you're stuck at 300whp no matter what, and even then you've got to run high boost since it is out of its efficiency range(an SR20 needs about 18 psi or so to get close to 300rwhp with one).

thats some insane stuff.
so the gt28rs with .86 trim definitely won't surge? I can't really tell for sure from these posts where 10psi is made (absolute outlet boost) but i'm guessing that it works?

this guy's motor is a gsr, correct?

Yes it a GSR motor. I believe it has a different intake (carbon fiber) and some cleanup work on the head.
I just bought a GT28RS for my bone stock GSR which Evan will be tuning real soon. I think this turbo could be good for over its 350 hp claim, I know Evan has made more then that already.
I will be able to tell you soon what is does at 10psi because that is about were I will be running it. Hope this helps

that does help, thanks.
so you have the gt28rs with .86 turbine a/r? i think i'll grab one of those for my rexy (haha get it ) turbo gsr =]
you running 10psi absolute at the outlet (->about 8.5 mani psi) on stock internals? that's my plan. how do you know that it won't surge (judging by compressor maps it very well could)

where did you guys buy your gt28rs .86 a/r from?

An efficient 62 trim wheel in a .6ar T04B housing is too small for the turbine??? And you can get it with the .63 turbine too if your worried about lag(which you should'nt because I never heard of it being too laggy with the .86, b18's included). I also never saw dyno results that were unimpressive with this turbo. I'll have one(.86) drawing through a demon 650 on a 1915 come spring . Talk to someone that has one though; I doubt they'll recomend against it. If you did your homework(what are you estimating ve at btw, and where do you expect full boost because you should'nt be that far outside the s.l.) and this is what you want, get it. Fweem.
