Default gsr/ls block question

i currently have a 98 gsr, still learning about turbo, etc etc. i've been looking for a blown gsr block for the longest time, and no luck. my question is, if i get a ls block and build it, (sleeves, pistons, rods) would it be just the same if i had gotten a gsr block and built it as well? thanks

Non-VTEC blocks do not have oil squirters. A built LS block can probably handle just as much HP as a built GSR block.

oi squirters arent even an issue with forged pistons. the main difference your gonna run into is that an ls block has a slightly weaker rod to stroke ratio (1.53:1 in an ls vs. 1.58:1 in a gsr) an ls also lacks a crank girdle which keeps the crank a little more stable at higher rpms compared to regular main caps that an ls uses

parts for an ls tend to be a bit cheaper and more available and u will get almost a half a liter more with an ls block

Finding a gsr bare block is very hard. My current build up is a ls block with gsr crank, rod, and pistons. I can get ls block for a $100 all day.

I'd just go with the LS Block. GSR crank would be nice to have though.
