Posting a budget will help a bit as well. You definitely don't need anything major though.

Yes, the stock block can handle that kind of power; however, you are going to be pushing it slightly. With your budget of ~$5k, you can easily piece together, or straight up buy a kit from the Marketplace which fits your needs. The nice part about piecing a setup together is the ability to tailor it exactly to your goals and needs. For your setup, you dont need to get fancy with $1000+ turbos and whatnot...stick to the basic 57 trim turbo and decent manifold. It'll do more than what you need. If you have money left over, then it may be time to splurge a little on a better turbo. I know now after having my S256, i couldnt go back to a 57 trim...

Might as well install rods to go along with those pistons while the engine is out.

I would say springs and retainers are a must but others might have different opinions.

hey rickymbo. talk to Morgan at synapse turbo, he's a vendor on here and can get you everything you need in one place. his handle on here is mike@synapseturbo . he has a listed number and he's a great guy to get build advice to suit your budget. customer service is tops as well. i'm sure there are others on here that are good also, but i have dealt with mike@synapseturbo and can vouch for him. I think his number is 518 261 1790

you can check the vendor marketplace in classifieds for specials from him and other vendors. Also check out his fabrication on his site http://www.synapseturbo.com/mm5/merc...kits_manifolds

I dont get why people want to do pistons, but not rods..do both or dont do anything. Just wasting time if not also ditch that stupid block guard its 2009 you shouldnt be cracking sleeves at 350 unless you dont have good tuning.

As far as the head I would do springs and retainers at least for insurance..nothing sucks more then to build a bottom end and have a valve drop on it...

personally i wouldnt go with turbonetics not because the turbo's are bad cuz they are not but their warrentee programs are BS they will try to get out of any problems no matter what but like stated stock gsr internals will make 350 but with a budget of 5k you can easily put forged internals and a nice turbo setup on the car. I would suggest a gt3071r turbo or a BW s256 they are great good spool up time and very very well built turbo's with some sort or ramhorn manifold and around 15 psi give or take you should be about there and the best cam setup bang for buck wise would be an ITR intake cam and a gsr exhaust cam but yes 5k is more than enought to build a nice dd'able boosted 350hp car good luck

Synapse is good. But also look to Arizona Forced Inductions (AFI), Peakboost, and Spoolin performance for complete kits. Getting the complete kit for a first timer like yourself, saves time and money because all of the smaller pieces like couplers, t-bolt clamps, and fittings are all going to fit together. Piecing together a kit is fine if you know exactly what to buy. You may not even need 350whp. but 350bhp to the crank is very doable.

The only other items you need to deal with is computer management, uprated clutch, injectors, and tuning. None of these kits include management to bolt and go unless you get a Greddy or Edlebrock kit, which may not be worth your effort

couldn't agree more while its apart spend the extra 350 on rods

and block guard is spelled J--U--N--K imo stock sleeves are more than sufficent for 350hp and well above it

Also twin cam vtec motors make power way up past stock rev limit right now im revving mine to 9500 and making power all the way up but its built like i said do an ITR intake cam and a gsr exhaust cam and throw some dual springs and upgraded retainers but iv heard that titanium retainers wear out quiker than just upgraded Chromoly retainers and for 350hp you dont need tit. retainers

Pick up a spoolin performance turbo kit or synapse motorsport kit. both will work great!
