Default Greddy kit questions

I have a 1997 civic with only about 50k miles on it, it was never really driven hard, and was always well maintained, so it should be safe to boost right?? I will be keeping it at approx 5 psi until I do major internal work and stuff.

Also, I am looking at getting the basic $1500 greddy kit, what else will I NEED to get, I will upgrade it slowly (FMIC etc.), but what do I NEED to get to safely boost 5psi.

i would just get at least a boost guage, egt or a/f guage, that's up to debate on here. I had a egt. A blow of valve, walbro or bbk 255lph fuel pump, vafc or safc and that will keep you at 5psi safely for awhile.

What order should I do those in, I am getting it installed at a shop, and they said that they would tune it for me, so I figure I should go with the BOV and boost guage first, right??

Also, how long will my stock clutch last before it starts slipping really bad??

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

as long as you have a intercooler, i would get the bov and boost gauge first. Boost is definitely needed so you can see what psi your pushing. Second, i would get a vafc and egt if you can afford to at the same time. If not, at least get the vafc, that way you can adjust the fuel and help save your motor. Unfortunately when i put my turbo on, it was on a automatic, so i'm not 100% sure how long the stock clutch would last. I hope this helps, anything else just ask.

Do you really need the walbro, bbk fuel pump OR the VAFC if you are using the Greddy Black Box (15G) or blue box (18G)??. I Don't think so, but correct me if I'm wrong.

i would recommend using a fuel pump and vafc. The blue box is good for 5psi, but trust me, nobody, not this guy will stay at 5psi. I recommend the fuel pump just because i know of guys that have had their fuel pump worked to hard from the new fuel management from the blue box and it seizes and then the motor blows. I wouldn't say it's priority on a normal basis, but people get boost happy, and he will turn the boost up, so i recommend it as an upgrade now that way later on it won't be to late. I did the vafc so that I could mainly toggle with vtec and up the fuel more when i started going to around 8psi. I think at 5psi even the stock injectors end up running on 100% duty cycle. So even injectors could be changed to bigger. There is so much to do, i hate thinking about it.
