Default greddy kit

why is it so expensive? i mean u dont even get a fmic. heres my question, i live in the caribbean my bro and i want to turbo his 92 civic vx, seeing that we dont have any real junk yards to get parts from, i was wondering whether you guys think it would be easier and cheaper to buy the greddy kit compared to peicing together a set up. his goals are 200+whp. if we buy the kit we might buy a fmic later. what do you all think

buy a used kit for around $1000 or $1200...search classifieds or ebay, i sold an entire used greddy kit w/greddy fmic and bov and some other extras for $1200 a long time ago

so id imagine you could get everything you need for less then $1300 if you search

buy ebay FMIC= $150 shipped

boom, ya done

greddy kits are expensive brand new, used they are priced right, nice little kits, fast spool, nice power-band, keeps ac

The main reason they are so expensive is because they are CARB certified. In order to get that certification, they have to pay a good amount of money. That cost is then passed onto the consumers.

that about sums it up.
i see you're from st. lucia, my family is from there and ive been there a few times. my cousin has some skylines down there and a gt four celica. how would you get the parts shipped to you though, wouldnt you need to have them shipped by boat? well thats how i send things there.

btw, do you know what happened to the evolucian and trulylucian sites? they've been down forever.

</TD></TR></TABLE> well im still working on the shipping and stuff but it shouldnt be to much of a hassle. i just checked out ebay and i saw some pretty good looking kits but i've had some bad experiences with ebay though, but i will keep looking.
The apexi kit looks good but i have been hearing that they not capable of 300+whp (future goals). is this true ? btw the way carb certification doesnt mean sh-t down here. (no smog testing). im from choiseul who exactly are your cousins vi boost? there ere ALOT or skylines down here. oh and about those sites idk, they were active last year (promoting a car show we had) but now......? i think strictlylucian.com is still up but the rest...

do not listen to this ******* moron

ss autochrome is cheap for a reason, because it breaks, it will cause you more harm then function and you"ll end up spending alot more money replacing your motor when your SS autochrome crap breaks on you

there manifolds crack, there turbos blow seal's, there wastegates dont work properly and send your car running 20 psi when you wanted to run 7....which in return kills the motor's internals

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE EVER BUY ANY SS AUTOCHROME PRODUCTS

you couldnt pay me to use any of there products

the day any body makes 450whp with an ss auto-chrome turbo kit for more then 7 days without blowing something up is the day i start sucking dick for coke

you"ve been sadly mis-informed

True

I have owned 3 SOHC Greddy kits now. The first one I bought brand spankin new back in 02'. The kits are great but by the time you get the FMIC, BC, BOV all in there your at about $1800. I said I'c never buy a brand new Greddy kit again and I haven't. I sold that first car with the kit on it. I bought my 2nd kit used with the Greddy front mount and HKS BOV for $1300 came with everything, even a spare oil pad already tapped. That was a steal. I just bought another kit with similar parts. I'd buy a used Greddy kit over SSAC anyday. The kits are good, spool quick, and direct bolt. Plus I would kick my friends *** back then with my Greedy D16Y8vs his DRAG D16Y7

no man no auto chrome, i've heard bitching hell stories bout auto, thanks for the heads up digital but i might just buy the chrome kit and talk to the boost fairy into letting me run 450whp safely just to see you suck **** for coke, i,m gonna go out and buy a new digital cam just for you
I have been spending alot of time @ homemadeturbo.com and i see alot of folks running 200+whp on their stock eg6 for less than 800 bucks using the std header, 14g turbo off 1g dsm, custom adapter plate, custom downpipe, dsm injectors and misc parts. i was thinking of piecing together a ghetto kit myself as a temporary setup. what are your views on this, i think i will start this project after spring, after i decide if i'm gonna move to toronto
