GReddy kit or Custom kit?
hey guys...i'd like to get some advises from you guys.
i have 99 lude SS(auto tranny) running 15.9 @ 89...slow as s**t
so i decided to get turbo kit to give it little more power for daily drive.
my goal is somewhere around 220 whp or mid 14 sec car
should i go with GReddy Turbo kit or custom kit?
if you suggest custom kit, what setups you guys running?
please help me with some advises, if you're building a mid 14 sec auto lude,
what would u do?
P.S: $2500 for Greddy kit, is it good deal? have u seen it any cheaper?
thanks alot guys...

Greddy. Buy it used though. There are lots off ppl selling their old greddy kits. Or at least just get a greddy manifold off of them and the turbo. the rest is easy to piece together.
thanks guys...i guess there're more ppl who like custom setups than GReddy...
but...wouldn't it be much easier to get GReddy kit and install it? getting a
custom setup isn't that hard? If i get custom setup, would i save some money?
sorry for being total noob, but i couldn't find my answer in this forum...

For your first setup go custom
That's what I have an I can't complain. You can piece together you're ideal kit for under the price of a greddy. So why not.

USED GREDDY is the way to go. like i said mine was 700 bucks plus a VAFC came with it. For a H22 or something it will be harder to find but still i'd take a look at used greddy b4 i try and piece everything together. Turbos will nickel and dime you to death if you piece it together. Plus at least the B and D series kits allow you to keep ur facotry A/C which is good if u wanna re-sell the car someday. Not sure about the H22's like i said though.
I went with Greddy. I did it because it goes right in with no hassle. It's very reliable if you leave it alone. If you want a fun daily driver that is fairly respectable on the street and carb legal, go with Greddy. If you want room to grow and get crazy, go with a custom kit. But by the sound of your question it sounds like your pretty new to the forced induction world of Hondas, no offence. The Greddy kit is great for starters. If you find you want more out of your car, sell the kit and build your own. It takes a little while to get really savy with turbos so just be patient. Good luck.
hey hondatec38.thanks for your reply...
do u also have a prelude? what else did u have to get other than the turbo kit? like...IC, gauges, VAFC, lower temp spark plugs, etc, etc??? can u plz tell me what u had to get other than the kit?

Actually, I have a Civic Si. The only add ons that I got were the type-24 intercooler, a type-S blowoff valve, and boost/EGT gauges from Greddy. If I may make a sugestion, if you decide to buy a gredy kit along with an intercooler, get the smaller type-31. It goes on a lot easier and you don't have to chop your front bulkhead. Fact of the matter is, you don't really need an intercooler that big unless you plan on getting really serious. Oh and I forgot, I have a Greddy turbo timer too.
Greddy is a great starter kit, i learned so much with my kit, i would go custom next turbo setup, but turbo is alot of manitance and cels and ****, but would i do it agian, YES
Greddy kit with custom parts = ownage + they are mad cheap and fit good, not much to customize they are great starter kit, but custom will always be better
