Default Greddy blue box

My friend just got his greddy turbo kit installed on his Gsr. I had a quick ride last night and I was quite desapointed. It's not as fast as I taught it would be. I would say that it would run mid 14's down the 1/4 mile. It seem fast at the beginning but it doesn't pull that much past 6500 rpm. Does the blue box disable the vtec somehow ?

Has it been tuned? If not, or only slightly, then you've got a problem. Tune that SOB and you'll find a good deal of power...

I myself am contemplating to get rid of my blue box which may just happen and I found the cheapest most effective route to go with since I really don't need a rebuild is to get rid of the blue box and go with a fmu/afc setup.. I was considering a stand alone but for my needs that should suffice. What I had talked about with a tuner here in Miami is that the greddy blue box was designed to run the car leaner than usual for state legal purposes and to pass emissions especially if you were to usually run at high rpm's. On a stock greddy kit without jackshit using fmu/afc and intank pump setup with the 310's he nailed about 230 , 235 whp on the gsr's, so I am hoping with the bigger dp, and straight pipe I should yield a very nice gain. Laters

P.S. Spyder as far as tuning if you just got a greddy kit slapped in the ride for a gsr or civic si no tuning can really be done..thats all thanks to the BLUE BOX.(POS)

Im still running a blue box in my GSR and still managed a 12.3 at 111.11 mph. He really needs the intercooler if he doesn't already and a boost controller and boost gauge.

I don't think they have done any tuning but I haven't header any pinging. I haven't look at his timing either. As for the intercooler, he just bought my old one which is 33"x7.5"x3. If it was good for me at 20psi, it should be good for him.

I forgot to add that I've plug his boost gauge (why the shop didn't ?) and he's boosting 7psi. He also have a air/fuel gauge but he told me the shop (he works there actually) was waiting for the diagram of the ECU to connect it. I've look at him and said D14.

Haven't dyno'd it lately but last time i dyno'd it, it was 235hp and 220 lbs TQ. At 12 psi with full exhaust and air filter on, 94 octane gas.

HP isn't high but damn I love that torque number ya got. Definitely sweet though and did the dyno have a WIDEBAND to see what your fuel situation was??

It did have a wide band and read around 12.2 most of the time. Don't remember the actual numbers tho.

If you could post the chart, I would love that. It would be the first time I see a Honda engine make almost the same Tq as Hp. Unless it confirm what I suspect, no vtec. If you can't post it, could you describe the Tq curve above 5500rpm ?
