Default got IC and BOV on

with the dsm smic i got a 1 psi drop. even with only 4 psi now, it still runs just as hard as it did 5 psi non-intercooled.

also got the flange welded to the charge pipe and put on my 1G dsm bov today. it sounds great, not too quiet, not too loud.

im pretty satisfied with my setup so far. only running low boost so the dsm parts hold up well and i got them both for 85 from someone used.

i love my car even more than b4 now. my next car will definitely be boosted

Default Got pics?

I am interested in how you did the BOV flange...since the stock DSM flange is welded to the stock DSM pipe tha is "crunched" flat.

Also, I'm suprised you got 1psi drop from that SMIC. I would have thought you would have gotten much less than that (the data I've seen have about a 0.5psi drop, and if you plumbed it in how I think you did, it should have been a super straight shot).

BTW, do you have the 1G or 2G IC?

Default Re: Got pics? (Slater)

i have all 1G parts. for the flange i didnt think i could get it off as well, but we have a small shop here where this guy does just welding, and he used like the welding thing to melt or burn the old flange off, and then grinded down the bottom so that it was flat. then he put the flange on my pipe and welded it around like that, so now its attached to my pipe almost the same way it was originally attached to the dsm pipe.

someone else on this board got the dsm smic too and said he got a 1 psi drop as well. i thought the drop would be very slight but the needle on my boost gauge tops out at exactly 4 on the line.

Default Ah, got ya.

thx for the BOV info. I should't have any trouble removing the old flange or welding it onto the charge pipe, but glad I don't have to crush the charge pipe like the DSM arm.

As far as the IC, I have both 1G and 2G ICs and will just use whichever one fits better. I have a funny feeling it's the 2G one (plus the piping is bigger on the 2G).
