Default Got a DP with EGT tapped on it...

So i know the EGT is supposed to be on #3 on the mani. but how much of a temp difference (approx) is it if the EGT is about 1cm from the 5 bolt flange (T3)? or should i go through the big hassle of welding up the hole and welding a nut to my mani?

thanks

It depends on what you want to do with it. Do you want to compare your engine temps to only itself? In other words, do you just want something to look at in extreme conditions to compare temps to regular operating temp? Or are you looking to get temperature readings and compare them to other people's temps?

If you're just going to use it for measuring temp on your own motor leave it where it is and it'll do fine. If you want to ROUGHLY compare to other people, the majority I've seen usually place the probe 1-1.5 inches from the flange that bolts to the motor.

I run mine in my DP all the time.
EGT dont mean crap IMO. As long as it doesnt get rediculous and it settles at full load your fine.
I just watch my Wideband all the time and EGT mostly on hi gear highway pulls

i had a problem with my EGT never leveling off, i found it to be too much timing being pulled, do you think i will be able to see this if its in the DP?

whats an average temp to level off in the DP?

Yea if its not leveling off you will see it anywhere it is mounted.
The only difference is the temp wont be as hot probably in the DP.
Mine were always about 1200F degree's or so cruising at like 80 on the highway. it would raise to like 1350F or so if I boosted on the highway.
city driving I would see like 800-maybe 1000F

With the Supra, I see 400-500C sometimes crusing the city and 550-600C cruising at like 80 on the highway. When I do highway pulls it goes up to 650-700C
