There is usually a Garrett serial number and model number plate on the back of the compressor housing. Call Garrett and verify the serial number.

Yes. I have never seen a real Garrett turbo that didn't either say "Garrett" or "Airesearch" on the compressor housing.
Post up some pics, we might be able to identify the knockoff brand.

Well there you go. Real Garrett turbo. Garrett used to be called Airesearch. Or they were bought out. Something like that.
It was probably rebuilt by someone other than Garrett and didn't get the tag. Mine is like that.

Re: real garret? how to tell? (beepy)
i looked at it again and it doesn't have a serial number. the comp housing only says:A/R.60 on the front and on the back it has a yearmark stamp(2004) dTc 3 M9 and the turbine housing says AIResearch a a/r.48 9526-036 but no labels with serial numbers or something.
can annybody tell me if this is a genuine garret or not?
thanks!
