Got back from the Dyno...Sheet
Here is my printout for today, B16A2, Drag III, S200 @ 7.5psi:
We are having some weird probs with the ECU...maybe a ground or something. A/F is rich before VTEC and goes lean when VTEC switches over. I also have a CEL, but it won't give a code! Strange......

Re: Got back from the Dyno...Sheet (b18bturbo)
I had 225hp and 165 trq on my SI at 6psi-6.5psi with no cat and full muffler shop exhaust. Good run though but there's probably a little more

Re: Got back from the Dyno...Sheet (SOUNDEFFECTS)
Thats funny. I just insatalled my turbo yesterday and i had the same problem w/ my s100. My cel light came on and I couldnt check the code. I also had a red light flashing on the hondata chip. The car smoked and idled like ****. I pluged in a p30 and no cel and it idled perfectly, even w/ the 440's. Kyle from KS said cut j12 in the ecu b/c it causes communication problems. I cut it and same thing. HOndata said i didnt have a base map, Kyle specifically remembers doing mine. Hes sending me another rom chip. Sorry to jack your thread but we seem to have the same problem w/ the new hondata stuff. Anybody got an answer?

Re: Got back from the Dyno...Sheet (SiRkid)
Any ideas about my fuel problem when VTEC switches over? It goes super lean right at 5500rpm.
My setup is:
Drag III (99-00 Si kit)
TiAL WG
Walbro high pressure in tank pump
Turbonetics MBC (needle valve)...POS!
B&M F/P controller (switched out to a new on on Sat. because I couldnt lower fuel press...with new one I still can't. FP sits at 45 at idle no matter what.
S200/b with P28 ECU
2.5" DP 3" Exhaust...no cat
Drag III manifold....Big POS!
Right now the tuner has it running super rich to compensate for the lean condition of VTEC. Now it idles like $hit, but I do get a hp and tq increase @ 5500rpm...see sheet. I never had that kind (or any kind) of increase in power @ 5500rpm with the FMU....
As for the ECU the only thing I can think of is the ecu got grounded the wrong way...the CEL wasnt there until the 4th or 5th pass on the dyno, a whole day after the S200 was installed.
I dont get it!

The B&M FPR doesnt allow you to lower fuel pressure, only raise it. Thats why it seems like it isnt working.......your tuner should have known that......

Tuning wise, looks pretty good, except I'd lower the VTEC point to 5300 rpm. On boosted B series with single runner intake manifolds and stock cams, the optimal s/o point almost always is 5300. Just my experience, best of luck to you.

Re: Got back from the Dyno...Sheet (VaporTrail)
Incorrect, I've used the B&M unit to lower base pressure as low as 25psi. It is possible though that you are losing fuel pressure up top, though I would wonder about that CEL. Typically the CEL staying on means a problem with the ECU itself. If thats the case you should inspect it for a fried component or swap out the ecu itself. What it sounds like to me is that the ECU isn't switching maps, but the cam change is still happening. Rather odd.

Maybe I can run a P72 this time.
Also, could this be a wiring problem? When I was running the FMU/Missing Link on the PR3 (usdm 99-00 Si) I had no power increase in VTEC as well.
Thanks John,

Re: Got back from the Dyno...Sheet (Sleepin')
absolutely sounds like a wiring issue. That tells me a lot, you should have the vtec wiring sorted through, and if that doesn't fix it, try swapping in a known good vtec solenoid.

Re: Got back from the Dyno...Sheet (VaporTrail)
The mechanical portion of the vtec ie: cams are definetly crossing over. Engine note change can be heard plain as day (unless I am just hearing ignition map change, but that is unlikely). It leads me to believe it is a fuel issue. Is there any wiring associated with the fuel system in regards to VTEC? I will reveiw my Helms and run through the wiring harness as much as I can tomorrow. I also have another operational VTEC solenoid that I will try to use. Along with that I will try to get some prices on a P72.
Also is there any reason I can't adjust my fuel pressure lower with my B&M? Some say it is possible some say it is not.

Re: Got back from the Dyno...Sheet (Sleepin')
your fuel pump is the problem for not being able to lower your fp. The return orifice in the regulator is large enough for the stock pump, but with some cars (like late model hondas) the return line and return orifice are smaller, and thus it wont allow you to lower fp when you add a hi perf pump. It's nothing to worry about as long as fuel pressure rises proportionally to boost and holds it. You can adjust the maps accordinginly in the Hondata.

So I sould concentrate on the VTEC wiring and the ECU? I'll be looking into it tonight.

tempest racing has a good rep. A buddy of mine had is car built and tuned there. Do what vapor said, and try to work out the isuues first.
you're running a p30 or p28 right now?
