Is this a good Kit???
I am new to the import scene. I just sold my 1995 BMW 325is and now am looking to get a 1996 or 1996 Integra LS and put a turbo kit on it. I will most likely be running everything stock except for exhaust, and will probably be putting rims and a system. I was just wondering.....is this a good turbo kit for my application and is it a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33742
Thanks.
Thanks.
Yeah what he said, dont commit yourself to anything. You need to research research, research, there is alot of good info on this site, also the search archives will be your best friend.
See what works and what doesn't by reading other peoples dyno's, times, stories. I garuntee you this will save alot of $ and time if u do this

you can save yourself some money, and get way better parts by piecing a kit together, or by having a shop fabricate you a quality kit. I'm not a big fan of the DRAG kits by any stretch of the imagination. And let me be the first to tell you the key to a reliable turbo honda is fuel management and tuning.
John is right, tuning is everything.
Also the benifit of piecing a kit together is better parts, and can end up cheaper than a complete kit. My first kit was Revhard 2c, great starter kit, i was never a fan of the drag because it seemed like everyone was upgrading parts, cough** manifold, deltagate(Wastegate).
Anyhow an example i paid $3,200 for my revhard kit almost a year ago, now on my second project im piecing together a kit, Im almost done it looks like final cost won't be more than $2,700 and i have some good quality parts.

If you're looking to go fast you should piece your own kit together. My whole turbo kit cost me less then $500 to put together. But it's sounds like you're going for the stunna affect when you open the hood. There is a lot of work and tuning to making a daily driven car be just as reliable from the same day you bought it. Many hard lessons learn when you blow up a motor. Like Vaportrail said the key is fuel manangement and tuning.

WOW!!! THanks for the quick responses guys, I am NOT going to let myself dive into anything at all. I have just began to research Integra's on the internet and am learning as much as I can from other people's mistakes and successes, and there is no way in the world I will be buying a brand new turbo kit for that much money.
I am not going for the "stunna" effect, I just want something that will haul *** and be reliable. I only want to run about 6p.s.i. I have decided to stay away from another BMW until I get out of college, mods and repairs are just too expensive.
Inline 976 - $500 to piece together a turbo kit??? Awesome....maybe I can find a deal like that somewhere.
I noticed this 01ITR#700 guy or somethin like that has a kit for sale....It looks like a pretty good deal and I might pursue that a little bit.
EDIT : here's a link https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=546445
I am going to look at a 1996 Integra LS tomorrow here locally, it has a salvage title, 88k, I don't know how bad of an accident it was but I am going to have it checked out by my mechanic. The guy is looking to get $6500 Does that sound about right??
Anyways, thanks for the help and I will update you guys once I begin emptying out my wallet. Thanks.

a lot of the pieces for the turbo kit were junk yard parts. But off of newer cars. TD04 with internal wastegate, off a 2002 WRX $100
Manifold made by evil auto - $200
Talon Blow off valve $10
Mx-3 intercooler $25
piping hand me downs - $20
Talon 450cc's $85 shipped
AEM fuel rail $90
Then for better fuel management..i later bought a v-afc. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...53210
but the turbo kit itself costed about $500

VaporTrail - Seriously??? The car has full gsr black leather interior, HKS exhaust, AEM Intake, short shifter, and 17" konig's...should I just keep my eye out for a GSR ?? Isn't the LS lower compression...which makes it safer to run boost??? Help me out here...what should I get?? haha...
Inline976 - Good deal man, Is the kit installed?/ If so, do you like it? Can you give me some Dyno #'s Thanks.

yeah 6,500 way too mych for salvage title ls, i woudl maybe pay that much for a salvage gsr. I wouldnt buy a salvage car either resale value sucks and you may encounter little problems with it given your going to go turbo. Those mods on that car are useless you wont use an intake or that exhuast(something bigger) and you'd have to ditch those wheels there ugly and heavy you'll need some 15's with bfg drag radials if you want to haul *** on 6 psi.
Look for a bone stock ls, gsr if u can find one and go from there. Dont buy something with i/h/e because those mods dont help you and some riceboy probably ragged that car out.

also btw ITR01#700 is a good seller, he seels good stuff for good prices, but i still think you should wait especially since you havent bought the car yet. The going rate her for a 96 ls is about 5-7k with roughly 80-100, gsr going rate is about 6-9k depending on miles/mods. I say buy and ls and boost 8-9 psi on a decent kit and you can run mid 13's.
A good setup would be
t3/t04e 57 trim turbo
spearco/boostcoolers(ebay) intercooler
revhard manifold
DYI piping or you can buy mine
tial 35mm
hks, greddy bov
run fmu and missing link to start and then later maybe go hondata, but thats because i beleive in taking steps not just jumping into things.
3" exhuast
act clutch
bfg drag radials you will be very pleased with your lil ole LS.

Ok, Well Now I am starting to think that I want a stock GSR....but who knows... Can anyone explain to me the difference between a GSR and a LS .. and does anyone know of any good deals right now??
I have looked through the classifieds but most of the cars are modded and I am not sure that is what I want.

Check your lcoal autotrader, you wont have any luck finding anythign stock or close too in these classifieds. I bought my car with suspension, hids, 2001 conversion, eom kit, Good mods, good starting point for my plans
On the gsr vs ls
gsr will rev to 8 grand, shorter gearing, higher compression, good flowing head, higher insurance and the almighty vtec
ls will rev to 6800, longer gearing, lower compression, they seem to really respond well to boost, lower insurance.
both are good candidates for boost, i have went through alot of setup's its just my turn to go boosted ls

I like the thought of both, but I can probably find a decent LS for cheap as HELL around these parts...probably $4000 , and I am trying to stay around $7500 so if everything works out I will have 3 grand, and it will all go into the engine......
If you want to do me a HUGE favor....you could tell what all I can afford to do with the engine with $3k ...
How much stock HP does LS engine have, How many Liters is it?? What about GSR?
Is a GSR with 3 bolt on's going to be as fast as a LS with 6-8 pounds of boost and maybe some work on the engine?????
Sorry to be a pain in the ***, but I want to get as much info as possible before I spend some jack. Thanks.

The average gsr with i/h/e will run between 14.9-15.3, the average ls turbo 8-9 psi will run 13.6-13.9, Direp ran 13.3 on 9 psi on bfg drag radials. Both cars are 1.8 liter gsr has vtec ls doesn't.
When u say u have 3k to spend do you mean on motor or turbo setup? If you are talking about building the motor then I wouldnt do that until it blows which if you take care of it will be a while.
I had a b20 vtec turbo in a gsr (last setup) and me on 6.5 psi was a pretty much dead even race everytime against Direp (ls turbo) when he was on 9 psi, he made 230/??? i tuned once and made 226/???
Crhis i wish we had videos of our cars racing, they were so close you could really tell the shifting points in both cars

Me and some friends installed the kit ourself. One good thing about living in Reno is we have Summit racing here. you can find just about anyhting your looking for, fittings wise. I love boost. The car runs just like it came turboed. I've never taken the car to the dyno. I'm too poor for that. That's why my turbo kit was about $500. I Ran a 14.3 on 6psi with street tires with a 1sec reaction and 2.6sec 60ft time. IF that says anything. I ended the track going 104mph
