Default Vecco Turbo Kit

Did the search,... read the threads and once again theres a not a definite answer from a H-Ter that I can trust.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...94465

If theres anyone that has ran the $1800 kit (preferrably on a GSR), please let me know what you think of the overall quality of the kit. From fitment to reliability to value.

Im thinking of getting this kit because it looks to be very similar to the Drag kit I had a couple years back. I know theres been an ongoing debate on them using chinese internals or real Turbonetics internals in the Turbonetics housing pictured on their site/Ebay so Id really like some experienced input.(meaning you have/had this kit on your car)

Thanks in advance.

a friend of mine has rocked this kit on his LS integra for over a year now, w/ a best et of 12.40. I also looked in to the kit, but w/ the vendors and fabricators we have on this forum a well quality kit can be pieced together for 1800 bux.

spooling performance mani, dp, dump package.
pick you out a $550 garret in the FI section
e bay/h-t intercooler
stealthmode (brand) oil lines
etc etc.

Fitment of the kit is crap.
The manifold head flang is to thick and not straight.
the bov and wastegate hoses crack and brae of in your hands.
And need to modify intercooler piping or cut a lot of he front bumper.
Oil feed line was too short, couldn't use it.
It worked after the install though.
You're better of piecing together your own kit and making the charge piping and downpipe etc, cause with that kit you'll find out that you practically need have to make all off it anyway.
For a bolt on kit I would look elsewhere.

I would never buy that kit.

Iver always seen mixed results, but the succesfull ones are usually in some hacked car anyways.

More power and better parts can be found in peicing one together.

heres my story

i got a jdm gsr swap really cheap from a friend. im not a honda guy at all. decided to build one. so ended up getting a eg hatch putting in the motor and decided it was too slow. one of my frieds has been running a ebay turbo kit for about a year and a half with absolutly no problems, so i went on ebay and bought a cheap $700 turbo. never got it the guy refunded my money back and again i was on the search for a turbo kit. then i run accross the treadstone turbo kit which is the same one vecco has, so i call the number on the listing to find out more about it and it sounds like i just woke up the guy. i think it was his house. anyways he told me that the kit comes with a downpipe and dumptube you have to fit and weld yourself. i was like ok well it still might be worth it. so i waited till i got paid so i didnt go broke. while im waiting for payday i do some research and it turns out that this is a chinnese turbo with a turbonetics shell, the kit is not bolt on(some modification needed), the blow off valve is a cheap ebay one, and the manifold looks like a 2 yr old kid put it together, the intercooler is alot smaller that the one pictured. the whole kit is not what it seems like. im glad i didnt go that way. i went ahead and bought a peakboost kit best choice ever.

my advise to you is piece your own kit together.

alright, after much debate,... i decided to go with a Drag kit. My reasoning is that I have asked over 20 people what they thought of the Vecco kit and after all the opinions I found that about 80% of them were negative. (that and the fact that I found a drag kit from someone I feel like I can trust for about 1/2 the $$ ) After all, the Vecco kit wasnt "designed to be the best performing kit on the market, it was "designed to make the seller $$. After looking into and calculating what it would cost to piece together my own kit, I was looking at a little over $2k,.. IMO, that versus the $1800 or so for the Vecco, I would go with the custom kit.

Thanks for the input guys.

PS kit kit kit kit kit (I dont think I used that word enough in that paragraph)
