Golden Eagle contact??
Can somebody quickly give me a contact address (email/phone etc..) for Golden Eagle? I'm about ready to send the motor our for a sleeving but I was told there could be a very long waiting list and I'd like to verify it with them first hand. There are also a few very reputable shops here in Miami I may look into for the sleeving but I'd like to compare them with GE, or if you can think of any other shop worth checking into, let me know.
Dammit... I was searching for Golden Eagle and I got nothing
stupid yahoo.
Anyways, I called a local place that reccomended. $150 for the sleeves (ductile iron), $400 to install them providing all goes as planned. This would be for an open deck, stock bore. $550 including freight on the sleeves, how's that look to you guys?

those are not full sleeves. Those are simply OEM style replacements, and aren't as strong.
Which are you talking about?

Are these really cheap sleeves? I mean I know GE charges about $650 for my block, these guys are asking $550 but I figured it'd be cause they're smaller and local but I dunno.. I don't want a shoddy sleeve job obviously, but the builder who reffered me has seen a few motors leave that place, most recently a B18C5 and said he was most impressed by their work. Is it the $$ alone that makes it seem cheap or something esle?
Hmm. I rememeber reading it somewhere. Maybe, well obviously, it isnt on their site. Search for immortals groupbuy that went on a while ago. I think thats where I read it.
Or.......
Immortal, could you shed some light on this. Maybe I am wrong.....
I believe the gaurantee was something like this:
Against the sleeves cracking
Agains the sleeves dropping down into the block or any kind of movement
NOT* against piston breakage or dropped valves.

I am not definite, but prolly, Mesa is a top notch shop and is more than likely much cheeper than shipping a block. I'm not getting a block sleeved, but I am getting some work done then in a few. Lemme know !
I say send it to GEM. I was in the same situation and I ended up shipping my block to them. Shipping both ways via UPS will run around $100. It takes about 3 weeks. It seems like a hassle, but it really isn't Here is something that vince wrote a while back.
"To get your block sleeved will run you $750.00 + shipping and handling .
This includes putting our "Godzilla" sleeves into your block, cleaning and decking - Two Options:
1. step deck which is usually for block that do not have enough room for an o-ring due to large bores
2. O-ring - which we like to put on all motors if possible. Works great on turbo or NOS cars.
Remember, we use all CNC equipment to do the sleeving portion
of the operation so no one can touch us when it comes to quality,
craftsmanship, tolerances and turn-around. NO ONE!! Plus, our blocks
get pressure tested before they leave to ensure a perfect block
every time! Quality and reliability are always our top concerns. We can bore and hone your block but this process is an additional $125.00, adds 5 - 7 days to the turn around time and we need the pistons in order to get the process done. I can get you ARIAS pistons for $515.00 . Just tell me what your compression preferences are? If you buy the combo block sleeve, pistons and bore & hone then I can knock your total for the job to $1316.00.( a savings of $109 ) Then all
you need is someone to assemble your motor and your off with a lot more
reliable power than you had!!!
We work on an incentive type buyin here at Golden Eagle. The more you buy, the less expensive it gets for you. If you are interested in more info, please e-mail me and let me know. Just to let you know, if you decide to ship your block to us
without ontacting us first, please follow the next steps to ensure the job
gets done fast and correct.
1. Strip the block of everything, even the mains and oil squirters! This will help you save on shipping!
2. Include a note with your block that has your full name, address, contact number and instructions on what your will be using the block for and any preferences you may have like o-ring or bore & hone, etc.
3. Unless you have spoken with Golden Eagle rep., all payment is up front. We will not start work on a block until the money has cleared our bank. We will contact you upon completion of your block and let you know what the return shipping costs will be. Return will be freight collect so you must have a check ready for the amount we inform you about. If you are local, please stop by our place. We would love to give you a look around the place and show you some of what we do here
at Golden Eagle Mfg. I hope this has answered some of the questions you may have had and I look forward to doing business with you soon.

BTW, I took my block to a v8 shop that does honda blocks also to get the block bored and honed and they said that they do the insert sleeves, but the GEM block was the best sleeve job on a honda that they have ever seen.
