ghetto head stud changeover
I know this is a no-no, but has anybody gotten away with just taking off their valve cover and swapping their stock headbolts with headstuds or ARP bolts?
Do one at a time, in the order of torqing the head and torque back to 55lb/ft. Then increase the torque to 65 or whatever they're supposed to be. If you have a MLS headgasket, I think it would work.
Think we might give it a shot, and it if it doesn't work, we would have to pull the head anyways! were talking about a beater here...

can we say "Warpage"???
you "could" remove all the stockers at one time and then repalce them with the arp ones and do it right. you woudl need to jsut loosen the back 4 blots toll you got the fronts all finger tight in order to kepe the belt from pulling the head up. but even then, that's chancy. you should I guess at least remvoe the timing belt, then you can take them all aff and replace them properly.
