gear dependant boost controller?
i need your opinoion HT. im in the market for a new boost controller. my last setup i used a greddy profec controller with the steering wheel mounted boost button. it was great but that only had 2 settings. ive searched and found a couple different options.
hondata s300 (out of the question because i just got a tune on crome )
Apexi AVC-R (around 400$)
AEM EMS (also out of the question)
turboxs quad stage BC
turbsmart EBC
http://www.turbosmart.com.au/index.php?id=42
i want to have traction on street tires but also be able to run full boost in every gear off of 2step at the track on slicks without having to switch to a single stage BC.
so my question in a nut shell is, what boost controller best fits my desire? and reasons why or why not.
anyone with experience with any of these BC please chime in!!

with the txs you will still need a trigger for it, as well as like the ITS, if s300 and aem are out of the question so is the NLR 1000, the 500 is a 2 stage. the 1000 if i remember goes off of time also, but it is a little pricey. (great product for the price though)
last yeat nasteboyii and i ran the ITS off of a clutch switch. he had great success with it. i couldnt get to work right all the time. we had it hooked up to a clutch switch.

Re: gear dependant boost controller? (boostedcivicsir)
I had decent succes with the ITS MSBC but it's just takes to damn long to set up. Like when you turn it on after a burn out, it would switch to the next gear and you would have to go through the gear setting to make sure you start in first gear. But I did run my first 9 second run with it.

those were the issues i was having with it also. (less the 9 sec run )

spring pressure, a RAMP-ABLE first stage, and then an aditional stage that goes straight to target. can't get a better controller for the money
i used to use AVCR's all the time, but now that this controller is available we will be using this instead.

anyone have any good experience with AVC-r?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Dont get me wrong...its a good unit in the hands of the right people. You just have to make sure you are in first gear setting when you take off so it knows what gear you are in. You dont have to hit a trigger every time you shift.

so this will work without a stand alone? and has 3 different gear boost stages?
what i really want is one stage for 1st, 2nd and full boost in 3rd.
sorry. i never thought i would have some much trouble choosing a BC.

I have heard the progressive controllers sometimes will run less boost than set in some gears, the only time I saw this was in an evo running 23 lbs, it would only hit 20 in 3rd gear although it was set the same in each gear....maybe just a one time thing. traction would def be better with progressive though

Re: (jdm_dc_fan)
yes its possible with this controller.
these controllers do the same thing EVERY time. the nice part about them is that if for whatever reason it doesnt do the same thing every time, you know something else is wrong....boost leak etc.

Re: gear dependant boost controller? (jdm_dc_fan)
You could run a turbo xs quad stage with micro switches... Build a "cage" around the shifter and set your switches up.
It's a pretty budget way to do it.
