Gear corrected ignition timing
Has anyone used gear corrections with ignition timing to lower power in the lower gears for traction?
Car makes 400whp on the waste gate (15lbs) and I don't wanna go smaller because I lose response and its harder to keep boost consistent up top with smaller springs

Re: Gear corrected ignition timing
Quick question sir, are you still running a 2 bolt 38mm wastegate sir? If so, do you experience any boost creep with your setup? I know that you have a larger turbo than mine and I was just wondering if you have any problems keeping boost steady with the 2 bolt 38mm wastegate? I am pretty sure what everyone is telling me is correct. I am running little boost and conservative timing on my very efficient turbo and that is why I am experiencing boost creep. I am also running a ram horn manifold and a 2 bolt 38mm wastegate and I am trying to gain knowledge for myself. Thanks in advance and your input is greatly appreciated sir. Sorry for the thread jack sir.

I dont understand why you are against boost by gear when you clearly have ebc duty left. You could run a smaller wg spring allowing less boost in lower gears and still run 28psi in the higher gears, just with a higher ebc duty. Its the best of both worlds. Believe me you have alot more boost range left than you realize. I have a 5-30psi range with my setup.

Re: Gear corrected ignition timing
I didnt use the gear ignition correction to lower power in the lower gears but my tuner pulled timing out in 3-4 gear initially for the first couple passes with the car so we could read plugs and check for detonation with a real load on the motor. Picked up quite a bit of mph when I put the 2 degrees back into it in 3-4 gear. It will definatly reduce power and should help with traction
