Is liquid gasket any good for my WG and DP?
Ive had problems with my downpipe/hotside flange forever now. The gasket blew out way back and now a bolt is stripped. Also I blew my WG gasket the other day and cut one from the gasket maker kit but thats probably fried by now too. Also the WG bolts loosen up almost daily. Im really scared about boost creep cause of this..
My question is have any of you used the liquid gasket called 'the Right Stuff' or something like it? Ive heard it holds up to extreme heat and is a very good seal.
I know alot of people dont even use gaskets for the DP flange or for the WG, but I wouldnt mind having one in there, and am thinking of using this liquid gasket for my DP and my WG.
any input is great

Don't use a gasket for the wastegate. Metal on metal should be fine, same with the downpipe. Liquid gasket is probably going to burn up even faster than everything else.

permatex copper rtv will work. if the flanged on the wastegate are machined, and perfectly flat, a gasket isnt necessary. BUT of it is a cast manifold you should use a gasket on the wastegate. i still use a gasket anyway on the gate. as far as the down pipe flange, i have always used permatex copper rtv. and it has worked flawlessly.

I dont think the surfaces on neither the wg or downpipe are perfectly flat, ive never had them machined and theyve been on the car about 30k of boost. I think my best bet would be to take my whle manifold off and get that all machined.
What is rtv?
Also I cant find any good steel gaskets or something of the like even if i wanted to use one, my turbo is a turbonetics t3/to4e, my wg is turbosmart 35mm.. any ideas?

The rtv you refer to is also O2 safe. I know of a few vw guys had good luck with it, including myself. My 5 bolt DP flange leaked until I used that. New set up is 4 bolt, so I'll see what happens. I used the copper rtv on the header/turbo gasket as well with good results.

Ok, I will probably just pick up some of the silicone/liquid gasket and give that a try.
