Full-Race Time attack S14
May 2006

Fresh after a top finish in the Super Street TimeAttack qualifier the week before, the Full-Race powered S14-240SX driven by Brady Dohrmann squeezes out a first place in class, 3rd overall finish at the GT Live Track Attack event. The event was held under the lights at Phoenix Intl. Raceway and catered to not only to some quick local drivers, but some of the fastest time attack cars in the world - the Cyber EVO and Zero Sports Impreza.
Given the 105° heat and a recent motorswap (to 100% stock sr20) the 240SX was tuned conservatively, yet still managed a 1:07.7 lap, beating out the E46-M3 piloted by former factory BMW driver Karl Muik. Another E46-M3 followed closely in 3rd with a lap in the 1:08 range.

the setup is a 100% stock SR20 (stock cams, stock intake-manifold) with a Full-Race stage1GT turbokit and Enthalpy 550cc romtune
The S14 is almost entirely stock (stock TC rods, stock RUCA, stock everything!!!) just a 10 point rollcage, Cusco LSD and custom coilover suspension.

build one!! nissans are so unbelievably cheap, and you get so much bang for the buck... 4 piston front calipers are cheap and easy to get off a Z or skyline, same with rear calipers and LSD + axles are super cheap and indestructible
SR20 redtops are cheap.
S13/s14s are CHEAP.
bang for the buck, as much as i love hondas, nissans are insane

we had all sorts of problems on the "other" fuel setup. the minute we switched to the enthalpy ECU, all went away, car runs great.
thanks scott

Interesting. We had enough problems with the Enthalphy chip in the shop Formula D drift car that we ended up ripping out the stock ECU and retuning it on an AEM. Mostly part throttle and transients. After retuning, made similar power with a junk *** OBX manifold and a Garrett GT2871R turbo on a stock SR20DET - 350ish/350ish on a dyno dynamics.
Your car looks clean and simple. Nice.
We're finishing up a customer's build now with a GT3076R and a semi-built SR20 blacktop that should be pretty fearsome. 240s are great value for money. Hard to beat.

we just put a 2871R on the car this past weekend and sacrificed too much powerband for the minimal top end gain... unless we can get the 2871 to get better bottom end and midrange the 28RS will be going back

Which housing were you using? I'm positive we were using an internally gated housing, think it was the .68a/r (??) housing but don't quote me on that. The turbo is responsive enough to be on a Formula D car (the Zerolift one - green / blue) so go figure...
