Default Fuel Rail question here.....

When is an aftermarket rail needed? also an aftermarket FPR?

This question sounds stupid but i was told that all i needed was a stock rail and reg for what i want. Didn't sound right to me...what are the limits of the stock rail and regulator?

can it support 500+whp? Thats what this guy is telling me.

rail yes. regulator, hell no. at that point you will need a good aftermarket fpr. but there you will probably be using AN lines and need an aftermarket rail for use with them anyway.

So the stock rail will work, but i need to use a fpr that won't requre me to run an lines?

I need to buy this stuff either way, i just need to know what to get and don't see spending $300+ on something i won't need.

What do you recomend?

I agreee on the aftermarket regulator. If you have an aftermarket hi performance fuel pump, you need to be able to control it's output properly.

I totally agree! The stock fuel rail can support high horsepower, I was on one at 500whp. The regulator needs to adjustable to either lower or increase your fuel pressure when needed in tuning, also have a diaphragm that won't burst and be 1:1.

edit:Also as Earl said you need the regulator in order to control fuel pressures form an Aftermarket fuel pump. You may be sitting at 40psi with say a stock pump but then add an Aeromotive or othe rhigh flowing pump and then will be 50psi or higher. You need a good regulator to increase or decrease your fuel pressure.

Thanks a lot for the info. I guess my only thing left to do is to find a good regulator. Hell maybe i'll just buy the rail now too that way i won't have to worry about it.

Either way, thanks
