My 190lph just whines constantly in harmony with the electrical load. If I turn accessories on I can see the voltage drop (I have a voltmeter) and the pump's tone changes. I don't think rattles are good!

Which model of Walbro pump did you get? Walbro have a application list made for different cars. So if you got the correct pump, it should be a straight drop in. I have one on my teg, and the pump doesn't hit anything. I have on problems using the filter sack either.

High flow pumps do make whinning sound, but not rattling. Definitely check your Walbro pump again.

then you need to wire that pump inline i wuold put in the engine bay or underneath the car. I would run the wire from the fp relay to power the pump. make sure you wire the pump in the correct polarity.

I would plumb up the inline fuel pump after the fuel filter.

This will prevent any debris from going into the fuel pump and causing any restrictions.

As viren said, make sure you use a relay... hook up the fuel pump so that the relay triggers on.off the ground side.
The power to energize the relay should be coming from any IG1 ignition 12V+ power source.

inline fuel pumps aren't designed to work alone...

they're used to boost fuel pressure when called upon...

best thing to do is to cut the rubber stock hose that feeds the fuel rail from the fuel filter...
buy some high quality barbed fittings and some reinforced high pressure fuel injection tubing and plumb the inline in... mount the fuel pump so that it doesn't get banged on... and nothing hits it... i used to mount it to the firewall and to the passenger side fender... made up custom brackets too.
