fuel pump going bad??

fuel pump going bad??
did a few searches and found a few things to look for, but i just wanted to make sure that i'm on the right track. so far so good i've been able to start the car right up with no problems even during -30* weather. but now it seems as though my fuel pump is making louder noises than usual when i'm coming to a stop, and today when i had the engine propped open and tried revving it, usually the needle on the fuel pressure gauge jumps from 44 psi to 47-49 psi and then back down again. when i revved the motor, the needle barely moved... and from doing my search, that points to the fuel pump going bad. someone please correct me if my assumption is wrong, or if you've have this problem. i recently changed my fuel filter and that seemed clean, and i checked my plugs this past weekend and they were whitish meaning i'm running lean.

did you check your intank fuel pump? when my inline fuel pump went bad, it sounded quieter than normal and like it was chokin (like suckin through a straw in a cup full of ice and barely any soda) type of noise.

yeah i'm gonna check my intank fuel pump tomorrow when i get off work. today i took off fuel filter and primed my pump. i thought maybe something was stuck in the line. nope. worked fine. i then turned up the pressure to 44 psi on my damn B & M fpr...all of the sudden, my fuel pressure finally increases when the motor is revved. damn, time to get an AEM fuel rail and FPR. B&M

i'm kinda leaning towards that as well. i'm gonna have to take it apart tomorro when i take out my fuel pump. but if it were the regulator, wouldn't my fuel pressure go up??!! instead of staying at a steady 41-42 psi when revved?

you would get an inconsistent reading depending on how faulty your regulator is. sometimes, you cant tell there is anything wrong with it.
