typically this pump is hooked up to a sump on a fuel cell with AN fittings. I had a 10 gal aluminum cell in the trunk of my integra when I drove it on the street. Then I ran -8 braided lines under the car to the rail. Then from the regulator back to the return on the fuel cell. I drove this around without any problems other than I had to open the hatch to fill the gas.

The last one I did on a street car I welded a sump on the stock fuel tank. It worked out really good. I ran a -10 into the pump, -8 to the rail, and -6 return.

Tony do you think that pump would support enough fuel for say 600 to the wheels, with the setup you mentioned? Jason

It should, no problem. That's the same size lines and pump we ran when we were on gas. The only difference being the fuel cell, which shouldn't matter with hp.

how would running a sump on the stock tank with new lines, pump etc, compaire to a fuel cell setup like this...
with the NHRA rules, does that have to have tinwork around it or would it be aceptable the wat it is... just having a sqaure cut in the well for the cell sump...

It would have to have tin around it, you lose your hatch space, and you have to fill your tank through the hatch. Mine's better

It was a custom one I made out of 16 ga. steel. Mine was wider and had a wall at the back of the sump to stop all of the fuel from rushing forward under brakeing. Without it he was having a problem with the pump running dry for a few seconds when he slowed down. The sump was about 8" wide, 1.5" deep, and 6" long with a -10 fitting on it. It came out really clean, i wish i had some pics.

Great info guys thanks, this is exactly the information i was looking for.
thats what i'm considering, my mechanic said he could weld a sump on the bottom of the gas tank with a line to the relocated fuel filter than to the aeromotive 1101 than run a -8an up the car to the str rail and aeromotive regulator. well this work ok? will any other parts be needed and how much $$$ do you think a setup like this should run,
keep in mind this is a street car, though not daily driven it get's alot of street time.
how would running a sump on the stock tank with new lines, pump etc, compaire to a fuel cell setup like this...
So you prefer this for a street car...

I have that fuel pump and a fuel cell in my daily driver. I've been running it for months with no problems at all. You just look crazy when you go to the gas station and pop the trunk to get to the cell. Here's an old pic of the pump, I got some more of the fuel cell and whatnot if you're interested.

We run -16 into the pump, -12 to the rails, -10 to the regulator and return, and 8 1600cc injectors. It's incredible how much fuel these things use on methanol!

No ****, believe it or not when we switched to methanol we used our 1 gal gas cell. by the end of the track there was a teaspoon of gas left. We were only on 19 psi 1st time out but it was dangerous. Now we have a 4gal cell for 35+psi.

I use a 1 gal cell on methanol with no problems. At 25-28 psi it really only uses about a 1/4 gal if you start the motor before the burnout and tow it back to the pits after the run.
I just make sure I fill it all the way to the top almost touching the lid.

I guess a little extra is always good to be on the safe side but I just got lazy and didn't want to actually change my cell up.

Re: Aeromotive 1101 big fuel pump (MatrixAutoSalon)
are you sure you weren't leaking any out. I have had to do two burnouts before as well and it doesn't change a whole lot. At the time I only had 4 1600 cc injectors at high fuel pressure but at 28psi it was still making almost mid 700 whp. If you actually add up how much methanol is needed to supply a certain horsepower then almost using a full gallon in one pass would be like 1800 plus flywheel horsepower for ten straight seconds.
