Fuel Problems with only 5 lbs of Boost
I am detonating with only 5 lbs of boost. My setup is FMAX turbo, manifold and downpipe with no intercooler. I have the distributor retarded. I have a BBK fuel pump, SX fuel regulator set to 50 PSI static, I also have a Field Fuel controller. I have the stock injectors maxed out. My a/f reads lean if i punch it but if i ease into the boost it stays rich. I tried 310 injectors from a Greddy kit and I wired a resistor box to the injectors but the car would bog really bad so I put the stock injectors back in. Anyone have any ideas what I can do. I just want the car to smoothly with stock boost.
I read your post and I saw no sign of any GOOD fuel management.
I couldnt even find anywhere in your post about a Boost dependent fuel pressure regulator (like the Vortech FMU).
It also sounds like you arent running the ERL MF2 ADDITIONAL INJECTOR CONTROLLER that comes with most F-Max kits.
With out a boost dependent fuel pressure regulator, a standalone, or the MF2, you are asking to BLOW UP YOUR MOTOR.
Unless I missunderstood your post you are in some serious trouble if you keep boosting.

I don't have the MF2, I pieced out just the basics, turbo, manifold, downpipe, wastgeate and dumptube. I did my own piping. I did just order a Vortech FMU. I thought with only 5 lbs of boost I would be ok with what I had for fuel. Thats why i want to tune it properly and make sure I have my fuel situation right before I turn up the boost. Thanks for the info..
OK.... Three things.
1) Do NOT boost until you get your Vortech FMU
2) You have to ditch your little intank pump and get a quality INLINE pump.
Intank pumps will not support the volumE and flow of high fuel pressures.
Dont argue, this is just the truth.
3)Some day when you get more money ditch the entire CHEESEY Vortech FMU setup and get a STANDALONE.
HAPPY BOOSTING

summer time is right around the corner........ invest in an intercooler also.

Definately get an intercooler. Invest in a good stand alone unit. And you're going to need a larger fuel rail, and injectors atleast 440's. Not to put feild down, but it don't work on the fuel, I use it just to run my vtec. Just wondering, are you running a wastegate?
Yes I have a Tial Wastegate. I just ordered an Vortech FMU. I only want to boost maybe 10 lbs max. Do you think I still need an Engine management system? Here is my setup: 1992 Acura Integra RS, FMAX downpipe, T3/T4b turbo, manifold, Tial wastegate, dumptube back into the downpipe. BBK 225lph intank fuel pump, SX fuel regulator set at 50 psi, Stock injectors, Field controller, Blitz BOV and custom homemade piping no intercooler for now. I just ordered the Vortech FMU. I do have 310 Greddy low impedence injectors and I have a resistor box from a 89 Integra not wired up. I want to see if the FMU helps out or if I still need to try the 310s with the FMU.
10lbs is nothing to sneeze at...an intercooler is a MUST!! don't even attept to boost that much without one!!..FMU isn't going to cut it either! Get a stand alone with larger injectors....with your current seup, I'd stay below 5lbs or the next post you'll be posting won't be a positive one!!
