ive done 140 in my ls-t, it went fine, ive done it twice actually, its not tuned well anyway, but temps never rose and still runs perfect, I think everyone is freaking out a bit to much about high speed in turbo hondas, go for it, but be carful, its scary as hell haha

140mph and 5th gear pulls are not a concern if your setup is done properly.

Why are you driving long distances @140+ anyway?

If you are serious about boosting I would trade that motor for a GSR longblock and some cash. The combustion chamber has a better design for a boosted motor (where as a type R head is better for NA) as well as the block itself is much cheaper and has lower compression.

I know tuning plays a huge roll in it, I mean I’ve done 5th gear pulls but never really tried to sustain it.
I would think the biggest issue I see is removing the added heat from the engine and transmission.
I guess the question should be “how much horsepower does it take to go 150+mph?” That will dictate to a degree how much heat will be generated under a constant state of operation. You would need a cooling system that could remove that much heat from your engine so that the individual components do not overheat.
You can reduce the amount of horsepower required by improving the aerodynamics of your car to an extent.

Some people are lucky enough to live in places where 150mph would put you in the slow lane, trust me, I’ve been there.

I'd say LS trans. and alky injection for crazy extended 5th gear pulls.

Redlining 3rd gear is enough to get me in trouble so i have never tried topping out 5th.

why u guys saying long trips are bad? do u mean long trips+boost? than yea duh, but I see no reason to not drive long distance if u keep it under 100mph (out of boost)

could an intercooler spray bar help for long pulls? like nitrous or water?

Bah, I've done 140+ pulls many times during my drive from Mobile AL to Boston MA I did the trip in 26hrs

Oh but that could have something to do with why my sleeves sank... try to stay away from boost on long trips
