First off, the money you could save on the C5 could go into internals on a C1 or even an LS. The High compression of the C5 would seem like a wast of money to me. Not to mention i dont think you could get much tuning out of the high compression.

first of thats not what he was asking^^. and to answer your question yes you can make long trips do watever you want as long as you get it tuned right and not push the power levels to high unless your going to replace internals.

Better be tuned correctly and you need to have adequate cooling. Overheating and tuning errors exponentially multiply during 5th gear pulls -- too many horror stories

Hell, on a public road, 3rd gear pulls are more than enough.

I avoid 5th gear pulls like the plague, too much heat.

i think you'll find with 8 psi on an ITR engine (provided it's tuned properly) you'll be seeing that plus some.

just stay away from those 5th gear pulls like the others have said. bad juju.

5th gear pulls can be done, its all in your tuning and cooling.

If you got your car tuned on E85 which you should see available more and more around the US at the pump, you could do 5th gear pulls all day! A lot of guys are using it on their drift cars right now to help them stay cool. Even tuning on E10 would help a little.

I wonder what could be done to make running a constant 150+mph possible in our little hondas.

Not that I would do it here, but while I was in Germany, I averaged ~160mph (255-265kph) the whole time I was on the autobahn and I was still getting passed!

Taller gears, Oil cooler, Trans cooler and some aerodynamics work?

With a good tune the engine should hold up better than you would, if you got clocked @ 140 mph.

i think the only real way to get 5th gear good is have your tuner street tune 5th cause your entering areas of the map you would never see on a dyno

EGT, wideband o2, and a tuner willing to trust you driving 140+mph and then MAYBE it would prolly be safe (tune wise!)

This is why I invested in an EGT gauge for my current setup.

Just keep an eye on those EGTs and let off the gas before it gets too hot.

I've done many long pulls in 5th gear without any harm to the engine.

You can turbo a type r but you have to keep very low boost beacuse of the high compresion so it does not justify the money you spend on the turbo set up and if you do have turbo you can drive on the hyway no problem turbo only activate at half or more throttle I do 80mph with no boost.
