Freeway/city engine break-in
Is it preferable to break in a built engine with city miles as opposed to the freeway miles? Is there a huge significance in the ring sealing on type of miles put in? I would have thought city break in would be appropriate. Any thoughts on this?

as long as there is different loads put on the motor either is fine. if your on the highway, change speeds and gears often. dont just cruise at 3000 rpm's at 60 mph for like 30 min. but i would also think that city miles would be better for break in if you can hit all the load points on the engine.

Re: Freeway/city engine break-in (boosted_dc2)
pull on highway:
3rd gear, 1/4 throttle to like 1/2 way to redline, let off and coast back down to like 2k rpms...
3rd gear, 1/2 throttle to like 3/4 rpm, coast back
3/4 throttle to near redline, coast
full throttle to full redline
rinse, repeat if desired... your motor is now as broken in as it will ever be.
It's the "motoman" method and it's perfectly acceptable.
Good luck

This is pretty much what I planned to do but after this procedure, no running in for a further 1000 miles before beating on it?
