Default forged flat top pistons - where to buy?

specifically I'm looking for 81mm bore, clearances like oem honda (high silicone content), flat top, and somewhere between 10.5:1 and 11:1 static c/r..... off the shelf if possible (to keep costs down).

Now what is a good quality piston and where to get it? CP? JG? brand xxx?

CP's IMO. http://www.raceeng.com or one of our many h-t sponsors.

I'd look for a 10.0:1 one or so.

I have a 10.0.1 comp. flat top Arias pistons w/ rings for sale brand new. It's an 81.5 mm. hit me up if you're interested. Selling them cheap. Going to 84 mm Sleeved block so don't need this size anymore. Thanks.

.....what is the standard piston clearance in the cylinder as recommended by Arias?

If I'm not mistaken, it's .003 piston to wall clearance.

we are doing a Arias and Eagle rod combo right now for a good price.

We use Arias exclusively in all our Race Engines and work very well in street and race applications.
As far as 81mm bore, the compressions usually for a Flat top piston are around 10:1

It would be impossible to find a high compression piston for an 81mm bore that is Flat top.
The closest you'll get on a FLAT Top, around 11:1 Compression is if on a 84mm bore.

The combination of the block and head you are using will determine the compression you will get with each piston.

What block are you using?
Which head are you using?

Itr block and head.

Please let me know how much that package is that you're doing. I'd prefer the eagle rods with the 3/8" bolts.....

I'm hoping there's a piston out there that will let me run .0016 piston to wall clearances.....

for that clearance you're looking for would be too tight. You need to give the piston to expand due to heat. Even the coated pistons out there don't even have the piston to wall clearance that you want.

Whats the big deal? You cant get everything you want. CP's and i think Arias from the top of my head dont need as big of clearances, but i dont know how tight you can make thme off hand. Good ole Earl is prob a good person to ask on that.

hehe, yeah I'm trading IM's with him right now.

Looks like somewhere between .002 and .003 is as tight as you can go with forged... I'd like to get moly coated skirts as well.....

I was hoping to be able to get away with just rehoning on the stock bore, but it looks like I'll have to take her to the machine shop either way.

Just trying to save time is all..... Oh well, back to turning wrenches!

We coat the Arias pistons all the time and our coater and engine builder has measured the pistons after coating and it doesnt require any changes to the piston to wall clearance.

Stick with what the manuf requires the clearances to be. 0.0016 is too tight.
