Default ford powerstroke intercooler question

they have those intercoolers on ebay for about $250, I have heard of someone on this board that bought one and then cut it i half and then welded new endtanks on it, does this work well and if i do buy it and do that would anyone want the other half? my dads shop has some mechanics that are amazing with aluminum so i know they could do an awesome job welding everything...

I was also looking into one of these cause my dad has a powerstroke turbo v8 and aftermarket tuners all say they are very efficient supposedly.

You can get these thing cheap from parts yards too.

I am not sure of their exact dimensions though.

The core measures 30" X 18" X 2"

they are 200 off ebay, but probably a lot cheaper out of a junkyard

I can vouch for those people and the intercoolers, I cut the cores make custom ones, I have made some that are 4inches thick 13inches tall but they are always 30 inches.

how hard would it be to make, and if it was cut in half horizontally would it be too big to fit under a civic front bumper? and have lag/pressure loss?

Its easy to cut it, it fit in my ls, and it fit in a del-sol, and now i am putting one is a little nx2000 and trust me those things have no space. Just get some quarter inch aluminum to make custom tanks and weld it or braze it, it works good, I fit one that was 8 inches tall in the delsol with the bumper support. Just make sure you are very good with welding because this is not some thing you want leaking. By the was their was no noticable lag or pressure drop. Good luck.

P.S
If you really know what you are doing you can make a water to air intercooler, thanks what I am making.

im thinking about buying one of these, or getting it out of a junkyard, my dads shop could make it into two intercoolers in a few hours, they are amazing! anyone want to buy the other half?
