You don't want an FMU.

Here's the info you requested anyway, I feel I am doing you a disservice: {url]http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/[/url]

dis-service... lol, its what i asked you for.

i know the down falls of FMU's compared to "real fuel management" but thats the route im going to take.. where can you get good enough fuel supply for 5psi for 100 bucks?

sure i could hack with injectors, but that would cost more. im looking for a FMU.

spend a little more money on good fuel management, it's actually buying peace of mind. you wont regret it, as much as possible do everything right the first time.

I Agree. A FMU does the job, but is a weak link in your fuel system. And you should never go cheap with your fuel management.

btw: this was the eye opener for me

Stock Fuel Pressure Boost FMU Total
42 psi 10 12:1 = 162psi

you really want to run 162 psi ?

well.. ive looked at all the down falls like i said.. but, a FMU would put out a buttload of pressure.. like you said.. over 100 PSI and the intank pump would never keep up with that..

but being only 5 PSI, and maybe using a 10:1 disk, or even 8:1, i think it would be ok.

its either $100 FMU, or injectors.. (used maybe $100, new 100 EA!) then a AFC.. used $200, new 325-350...

to me.. the FMU looks good enough.. lol.. and go ahead, call me cheap. lol

i'd go for bigger injectors than increase fuel pressure. but you will need something to decrease fuel to idle them and not run too rich off boost. and you will definitely need to get a higher flow fuel pump to keep up with the fuel pressures.

i'm using the vafc hack and i'm not too satisfied with it..yes, it gets the job done but you can only tune so much with it. not much resolution. i'm thinking of getting an e-manage, that's what my tuner is suggesting.

i say save up some more and get an e-manage. if not then best bet is the afc hack, much more safer than fmu. a bit more fuel is better than not enough fuel.

He wouldn't have 162 psi fuel pressure, stunna. With a 12:1 FMU at 10 psi boost he'd have 120 psi fuel pressure. An FMU is a variable restriction in the fuel return, and it doesn't hit 41 psi restriction - regular rail pressure - until about 3.5 psi. After that, it increases fuel pressure at the 12:1 rate you're thinking of.

Being only 5 psi, you aren't going to have any problems with fuel pressure running the 12:1, so i wouldn't fool around with 10:1 or 8:1 ratios. I also linked you to Vortech's site as their Super FMU is about as good as it gets and allows you to adjust the ratio yourself - at a premium of $200 when I last checked.

For the $100 + s/h a run of the mill FMU goes for, I'd buy a chip burner and some ECU chipping supplies. It's less expensive to get into BUT you have to educate yourself a little first. Check out http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata and http://www.turboedit.org and give it a think. Maybe it's for you, maybe not, maybe you'd like to work towards it but just not yet.

You can get an FMU directly from vortech if I'm not mistaken but I think summit has the best price!!!
