Flywheel...... how does it affect boost?...
What I will be running stock b18c1 with t28 .86a/r & t25 housing
Well guys i wanted to know how getting a lighter flywheel would affect boost.
I know how it affects NA applications. It doesn't nessarly make more power but kinda "frees" up the revablity.
Well with boosted applicaitons, would getting a lighten flywheel affect the ablity to reach FULL boost at all?
- I would think so cause if you get a lighter flywheel it means that there is less load there for less "push" of the exhaust flow correct?
1)what is a safe lbs flywheel to got with?
2) billet steel or cromoly alloy?
3) exedy, ACT or ClutchMaster?..... (best bang for buck)'

If I was you, dont get those light weight FW. Use the money from it and buy a good fuel management or upgrade something to your turbo. The outcome would be much better than those stupid flywheel..
To answer your question, the light FW just let your car rev faster which mean it helps out on spooling and launch, but nothing much different in power you can feel really. Use stock flywheel and save money for some tire for tracktion...

I'd had a ACT streetlite which is 12 lbs. in my gsr and loved it.. didnt drop rpm's between shifts as much as everyone else did.. i loved the acceleration that it helped out..

great thread. However how does it affect boost? should I spool faster or not?

Re: (ApexiChild)
for the strip, i like to think of it as you wanna keep the revs up while shifting so you wanna heavier flywheel, not exactly like a heavier aftermarket one, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to stay with the stock flywheel. so during shifts, the rpm stays up. maybe for road racing/autocross, youd want a lighter one for getting outta the corners. am i wrong?

I have a really light setup. It didn't affect HP,TQ, Spool time or MPG, but it did make the engine rev livelier.
