Default Fluidyne Radiator Cap

anyone know if the fluidyne radiator cap and the stock cap are interchangable? i threw away the stock radiator (with cap) because it was leaking. just realized the fluidyne cap opens at a lower pressure than the stock cap.

I had the same problem. I went to pep boys to buy a new cap for my fluidyne and it did not fit. I order a new cap from fluidyne for 18 bucs shipped and its 16lbs instead of the old cap which was 13lbs.

The fluidyne cap has a larger diameter than the stock one. Fortunately, Fluidyne uses one of the standard size caps and should be available at your local parts stores in several different pressures.

Heh, I've been meaning to start a thread about the Fluidyne cap lately. After noticing some coolent loss in recent months I've come to conclusion that the cap doesn't fit as tight as it did before and that it's leaking out from the seal. The radiator has been in for about a year and a half. Seems like a short life span don't you think? Has anyone had this problem with theirs?

According to my Helms (91 Integra), the entire system including the cap is to be tested at 11-15 psi without seeing any pressure loss. The book doesn't give any specific amount for the cap so its kinda vague.

If you raise the pressure on your rad cap...do you need to change your thermostat?

When I installed mr C&R it came with the 2bar cap. After a week I had changed all my hoses. They sprouted leaks as they were the origianl hoses. Now it seems fine.

My 160 themostat seems fine.

Most of the Honda caps are rated at 1.1 bar, some are 0.9. The cap will be stamped or indicate pressure on the sticker. Higher pressure ratings will increase cooling system efficiency, but may take a toll on the hoses (as noted above).

I was just informed that the Moroso cap does not work...its a little too big. I think the cap was actually made by Mr. Gasket....but someone needs to check that over.
