first time on the streets after my 9 month build up
Nothing too exciting here, unless you are bored click through.
Picked up the car. I dropped it off two months ago to have the headgasket replaced after doing it myself several times. My new motto:
Bar's leak dominates! I should have used it the first time rather than doing the headgasket 5 times. I always thought it would work but the coolant to oil leak, probably coming fromt he bottom of the cylinders where the sleeves were preessed in, is GONE!
Driving away fromthe sohp, car dies when I push the clutch in. Stalled from a fast rpm drop and light flywheel. Too dead to start again. Friend goes to get jumper cables, the proceeds to tell me how "oh it won't start call AAA." I say just wait, I mean the battery was so dead the interior dash lights weren't even coming on. After waiting 10 minutes, it starts up.
Drive 25 miles no problems. Definitely needs some part throttle tuninga nd I have an oil leak straight onto the downpipe so I got lots of neat looks from people that thought my car was on fire. And the bumper was duct taped on so my friend had to dodge random parts flying off the car as it scraped on the ground.
I fell in love with blow off valves and turbos. Go into it and lost a charge pipe on spool up, probably all for the best considering the break in period thing.
Toyed with a SS and G35.
One last thing, how in the world do people with fully built setups survive the break in period!? My car is screaming GO GO GO at me!

haha break it in hard man. I broke mine in on 9psi on the dyno. No smoke, leaks, idle is perfect. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

i'm about to break in a new motor. i've contemplated this method and it seems to make sense. anyone else do it this way for what will be a daily driven boosted car?

Re: first time on the streets after my 9 month build up (jinxproof99)
Update:
Spent all weekend driving the car. The oil leaks seems to be getting better on their own which I'm not complaining about.
Most of the miles were reasonable. I took it up to 4k a few times, then 5k, then 6k. On the t3 60-1 boost starts in around 4k. It was a little lean so I added more fuel and then ooooh yes this is what I've been waiting for. Short shifting at 6.5k I was holding 9psi steady. If the 5.5k-6.5k range is that much fun I can only wait for the 6.5k-9k range. I'll keep you all posted with timeslips in the upcoming month!

Sounds like a nice setup. Heading for 11s?
Btw, since it's a light *** Civic, why didn't you guys push start it? I push start my Crx by myself and I'm not that strong either.

Yeah what the said. Talked to an older guy today at sunoco. I'm just checking my oil, pumping in some 94 and minding my business and this guy asks how much boost I'm running. Anyway we get to talking and he says "what compression" and I said "about 10.7:1" and he said "and you didn't grenade it yet? we didn't even run that high of compression without a turbo growing up."
Older people that grew up wiht v8's are always cool to talk to.
Anyway, falken 215's and quaife are a great combination. I actually can get traction from a roll, the quaife just chop chop chops trying desperately to keep up.
I'm hopefully headed to the 10's. After I get a 10.9999999 I will probably never head back to the track again. Maybe I'll get rich and be able to afford road racing one day.

Nice setup, good luck with it - BTW, I have started my junker up hill, just put it in reverse, push the clutch and let it roll backwards, then pop the clutch when you have a decent roll
