You can drive on it, just don't hit ANY boost. I always put a boost cut at 2 psi for my basemaps, but if you don't get more then 50% on the throttle there shouldn't be a problem.

I drove around for a few days on a basemap but I had a fuel cutout at 2psi so i couldn't get on it or overboost...

Drive nice and you wont have any problems....i drove on my basemap for about 2 months before i got tuned....another thing you can do to prevent yourself from blowing it up is to get plugs w/ a large gap (.4 or so) and that way you will blow the spark out before you do any damage....just another safety precaution

Maybe a noob question, but I don't understand what is so bad about driving on a properly set basemap. If you richen up the boost fuel maps, and set an ignition retard (-.6* per pound or so), it should be pretty safe. If anything the only thing you'll do is foul some plugs from running too rich, or just not make as much power as you could. As long as you keep the boost somewhat low (8~ psi).

I'd think it would be much safer than an FMU or AFC hack since at least you have the ignition control too.

Someone enlighten me

^^ the thing here is... that there isn't a definite answer.

sure, you can drive on your basemap, and get on it. is it recommended? absolutely not....

basemaps are made to get your car to the tuner, to have it properly set up. in the end, its your money that you're risking, and im sure that you'd rather not have to throw in another block just because u wanted to get on it sooner.

tuning is key!

To add on top of what was said. Not only will everything in your system accumulate carbon build up but the excess fuel will also remove oil off the cylinder walls shortening the life span of your engine. This is all besides the fact that you are wasting gas.
