Thank you sleeper. Chris - I thinking we are seeing eye to eye. I know as well as everyone else about Eagles tapered rod bolts but I have seen the good numbers I will remain on Eagles side for having a good and very well priced rod. . . not that I dont kick myself once and awhile for not getting Manleys or Pauter . . . I will just refuse to dog them like some people. . .

From what alan told me at eagle, you cannot buy the upgraded rod bolts separately because with the extra load (tq) on the bolts, it'll cause the radius of the rods to distort. You'll have to buy a new set with the rods already machined with the upgraded rod bolts. I'm still running the stock rod bolts on mines with this power. Paul

 

**** like this is what i dont understand. if you cant afford pauters, i say wait until you can because patience is everything in building your car properly. but when you can buy a 300.00+ moroso oil pan and you still buy eagles, thats just plain dumb.

most of us are using Eagle rods, so the chance is higher you see once in a time a Eagle rod brake, cause this brand is used way more than Pauter or Crower. Hence, nearly no one does have problems with the Eagle rods. There is no insurance of rod failure, you can have problems with expensiver parts too.

You're right, anything can fail, but there's less chance of failure with "expensiver" parts...

 

I guess Eagle rods are cheap, cause they produce way more Honda rods than Pankl, Pauter, etc. so they can sell Honda rods cheaper. Quantity is the keyword. Pauter, Pankl, etc are not selling so much Honda rods, so the price is higher. Thats my theorie

I think the quality standard is very high on all of the products and BMW/Mercedes are no better cars than Honda/Acura cars are, even the BMW, etc is expensiver.

My porsche 993 master brake cylinder is kaput...Car has only 30k miles on it. Dealer said someone put wrong kind of brake fluid causing the it to gum up.(right) . Did a search on it, find out it is more common for it to fail but Porsche refuses to do a recall. Anyways....I put 530 whp on my Eagle Rods . Its a daily driver and I beat up on the car every chance I get both on the track and off the track. If some people feel paying more for a piece of mind..then I guess people shouldn't buy generic drugs either. You will learn all of this when you get into Pharmacy school Paul.. Anyways, glad you reach your goal.

Isnt that always the way things work Not everyone here builds 11 second street cars and has the financial stability to get everything expensive. I went the "better" way with sleeves on my setup this time cuz as it was, I was already in the hole so I opted for the Eagles. Life goes on . . .

What sucks is when the eagles puts a hole in your better sleeves. i understand that everyone is not in a financial place to buy pauters but why not just wait until you are?? whats funny is when the 350.00 saved on eagles is spent on rims,body kits,carbon fiber this or that,moroso oil pans,pretty bullshit that isnt necessary. why take a chance destroying your entire bottom end over 350.00??? If i couldnt run pauters or atleast crowers i wouldnt even build my motor. just my .02.

 

I have an appointment with Jotech to get my car tuned on the 12th, I'm coming from hEl Paso and it's an 11-12 hour drive. They just tuned a friend of mine's car yesterday and he can't say enough good things about them.

 

I hear what you are saying Mike, it is logical to wait until you can afford the higher end rods or whatever part if it will in the end give you more peace of mind. That is why rather than buying a DRAG or Revhard turbo kit I drew up a list for a custom setup. I wanted better parts that what most turbo kits come with.

Good point exactly what i was thinking. Ive learned alot from my mistakes, so no shortcutting this time. Think about about the time and $ it takes when your rebuilding and you shortcut it by $250-300 and have to do it again. Not worth it in my opinion.

I dont drive but 6 miles to work and parents house is 10 miles away, so im not gonna buy a beater just now, but when she blows instead of building it then im going to buy a beater. Research and then decide what setup i want to go with.

We completely drained the gas tank out. Tony connected two wires on the main relay that allowed the fuel pump to keep pumping and we pulled it off the fuel feed line. Very simple to do. And yes, we made two different hondata chips, one for pump gas and one for race gas.

Holy jeebus!! Very nice numbers, but the thing that impresses me the most is that you drove it 10 hours there and back. I'm scared to drive my car 3 hours to get it dynoed.

thats right. do it right the first time I can even see skimping on the turbo kit way before the rods or bottom end and head. the longblock is the heart of everything. w/o a properly built longblock, you can have a 1000hp fuel system,turbokit,intercooler etc.. but it will never be reliable w/o a solid longblock. Dont skimp on anything on the longblock because when the cheap part fails it will cost you 5-10 times the amount you thought you saved.

I have a dsm here than will run you any day of the week for big $. So if this car is for real and not just a garage dream then let me know we can make it happen cause pensacola ain't got nothing for fast cars just a bunch of foolish navy boys and high school kids who talk about what's back home or what mommy and daddy will buy them. So find us some real cars that have the ***** to run track or street we don't care cause mobile will beat all even that little **** yellow hatch you have there. Thats pretty much all you fools have. Damn man, those are some pretty strong words. First off, you can't really compare dsm's to hondas. Most of the fast dsm's are AWD anyhow and my car is just FWD. If you got a car with a honda motor, bring it on. U already have the advantage because u know what kinda #'s i'm making. That wouldn't be fair would it.
