Finally ran the turbo at the track, not trully happy need some input.........
Well I finially got my car running track worthy and I made it to the track on last friday. Ran a quickest time of 15.6 at 90 mph, with a 2.6 60 foot time. Obviously I can't launch by looking at the 60 foot time but still a 15.6 seems really slow. I was hoping for 14.9's at least.
I do have a couple problems I was wondering if somone might be able to help me on. First, if I hold the throttle in while in nuetral like I'm keeping it reved for a launch, if the idle sits for more than about 3 seconds it will bounce from 1500-2500 (if I was trying to hold it at 2500. It basically just drops 1000 rpms from what I'm holding it up, then back, then down........) Has anyone had/have this problem or know what it is or how to fix it?
Second question......what kind of a difference in horsepower or just plain out how would it run with 1 step colder plugs, compared to 2 step colder plugs? I could only get 2 step colder stock plugs, and for some reason the car is weird while starting and I'm thinking it has something to do with the plugs. When I start it up no matter how warm/cold it is outside it starts like it was sitting overnight in -15 degree weather. The idle goes straight to 1300 like a cold start. Any input?
Thanks for reading and the help!
Nick
EDIT Thought I might want to leave some info on my setup:
t25 turbo
afc hack with 450cc injectors with inline resistors
255 lph walbro fuel pump
starion intercooler

I think your idle issue is your fast idle valve, at least from what I have read on other people have the idle surge problem.

First of all, your time doesn't seem all that bad (for a T-25). Just work on the launch and you should at least be able to get lower into the 15's if not high 14's.
The main problem?
The T-25 is not by any means a "drag" turbo. Even on the small D series motors, the upper RPM power is lacking.
I ran a T-25 on my ZC at 12psi for over a year. my best time? a 15.4 at 98mph on a stock slipping clutch. The turbo is GREAT for everyday driving, but the top end is just not comparable to a larger turbo.
if you havn't done so already...Get that **** tuned!

Re: Finally ran the turbo at the track, not trully happy need some input......... (Bryson)
how much boost on the t25?
here's the not so perfect setup i ran last time at englishtown and i managed to pull a 15.001:
stock greddy td04h-15g @ 6.5psi, dsm 1g sidemount, rc310s, walbro 255, stock exhaust, dx tranny (temporary), all in a full interior del sol with P/S and AC.
i think the exhaust and tranny really held me back. i'm going back aiming for 14.5 next time. maybe my turbo is a lil bigger than urs tho, i'm not positive. def try to fix that idle problem and drop those 60 ft times. that will def help ur times alot

The 15G is a lot bigger than the T-25.
I was running 12psi and only made around 170hp...
Thank god I sold that setup, and am now going with a T3/TO4E...

I'm running 9 psi right now with the starion intercooler. I have no idea what is with my idle, I'm looking for help with my idle and the cold start ups. Anyone have any ideas on that?

try this bounce your idle like around 35 or 4000 let out on the clutch and feather the gas so you dont loose tracion if you feel that you arent lossing any traction then punch it and go you got to make a couple passes and just learn your car more
it all comes in time good luck ohh I hope you have a good clutch?

act 2600 with about 15-20k miles on it. Does anyone know what could cause that idle to bounce like that? It seems like I'm the only one I know that their idle does that when I rev it up at the line. What could cause this?

You need to be tuned. My car did that, After I got tuned it sits exactly where i want it.

the only thing with the idle that I know for sure that is part of the hack is part throttle bucking. But with reving in nuetral isn't supposed to happen.
As for the vacum leak there is none. I've checked three times and just checked again. No vacum leak.
What about the IAT sensor. When I first installed the turbo I never put the IAT sensor back in. Could that cause the "cold" start-ups, or the funky idle.

I've now checked the IAT which was good, the IAC which was good, the CTS (coolant temperature sensor on the thermostat) which was good, the TPS which was good, and the MAP which was good. I'm completly stumped. Anyone have any other ideas?

I am sure it is part of the hack. When my car had the hack, it did that. I got hondata and it wasn't there anymore. I didn't change anything else other than the the Hack to Hondata. Thats my .02

but from all the people I've talked with, my car, and now your car is the only ones I know of that would do that while revving in nuetral. Sometimes it'll do it while in part throttle in first gear but that is part of the hack, I've never heard of it doing it while in nuetral at a stop.
