Finally my own dyno!
After years of tuning cars sourcing dyno usage from other shops I finally made the decision to purchase my own. The 2 hour driving trips to the dyno 3-4 times a week took a major toll on me over the last few months. What i specifically needed for my shop was a small compact dyno, not in ground and able to provide steady state/loading. Dynapack from New Zealand was the best option. For those of you that arent familar with the system it uses two boxes that mount up the hubs of the vehicle. The hubs are able to provide loading/resistance for the wheels to do partial throttle tuning while on the dyno among many other options. Here are some pics:
The hubs weight roughly 400lbs each, in the crates it was around 500lbs. It took quite a bit of man power to unload the crates from the truck this afternoon.
Here is a pic of one of the hub boxes. You can see the hub adapters on the pallet, it comes with 4 and 5 lug adapters.
Here is a shot of everything assembled. After unloading the crates from the shipping truck, it took about 3 hours to assemble everything. Dynapack did an excellent job of providing everything single plugs, connectors, adapters, wiring, sensors, etc. I fired the CPU right up and I was "online" with the temp, humidity, boost pressure and wideband sensors immediately. I still have to run to Home depot tonight to purchase some more hose for the water to cool down the hub boxes. Overall the packaging, processing and service from Dynapack has been incredible. Dynapack gets a huge .

The cost was around $60,000. Shipping, taxes, tariffs, customs, etc. were nearly $5000 themselves.
I know that the price of the dyno is based upon HP level. They have the options for a 400whp, 800whp, and 1100whp for the 2WD models. This is the 800whp dyno.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the actual units if just getting the 2WD version are cheaper than the dynapack, but there is the cost of having to put it in the ground. Also, I know that dynapack will fly someone out to teach you the ins and outs of everything and that's included in the cost...not sure if dynojet does that or if it is an additional charge.

Re: (USDM 4G VTEC)
That's awesome. And for the person asking how it hooks up, you take the wheels off the car and attach the hubs to it or something, right?

No Pete, I did not get my hands dirty today, but I'll be up there tomorrow!
We are gonna put Jeff's white hatch, his s2000, and maybe my stock hatch and his stock hatch (I think his is faster) on it tomorrow. We are trying to get his dad to put some of his cars on, but we'll have to see what happens!

Congrats Jeff, now you'll have more time to fix those cars that "just need a tune"
before rushing to a dyno appointment. Can't wait to get on it.
