Finally Choosing the Turbo but need Help....
I've done the research I can, but I'm still left with the choice of "Which Turbo will be the best for my set up?". An idea of what I'll be running. B18C1 Block, Eagle Rods, JE pistons, block gaurd, B16A1 head, ported, Skunk2/Jun valve train, GE intake, Full AEM EMS w/ egt-wideband and so on.
My plans call for 1bar for street and upwards of 20-22 pounds on the track with race gas.
I prefer to purchase a Precision turbo within the SC line. Any ideas on the best choice turbo are appreciated, along with a good A/R

the problem, like most people new to turbos seem to face, is that you're planning backwards.
a pressure level is not a GOAL.
basically, what do you want for street power, and what do you want for track power?
from there, a recommended turbo can get you there at X psi.

Yeah tune for power not PSI
but Im guessin you want somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 street and 400 track HP something like the SC 52, 60, or 61 would work fine for you probably your best choice for the street would be the SC 60
PS. investing all the money into internals and no block sleeving? I would seriously look into getting that block sleeved w/ HP goals that I am assuming you want to acheive.

Re: Finally Choosing the Turbo but need Help.... (30psi Teg)
Your correct, I should have posted my Hp goals. I thought about that after I had signed off last night . Anyways, my street goals are 350 street and whatever I get at the track doesn't really matter. This is mainly a street car. I purchased this block and originally put in a block gaurd because I was building a HIGH Rev motor (wanted 12k+ out of it). I was considering getting sleeves, but a good friend of mine just went to a dyno up in phoenix and put out 53O and he's on stock sleeves w/ nothing for over a year, so I'm going to try the gaurd and see how it goes. I also understand there is a good range of different turbos, my question would be which is the best...

Re: Finally Choosing the Turbo but need Help.... (jmagner)
Mine ran me 950 so cheap? NO am I happy I did it? YES...to me I know you can get tons of power from factory sleeves with the right tune on it, I am just not brave enough to try it!
If I break a sleeve with the aftermarket sleeves at least I'll feel comfortable in I would have cracked one with factory sleeves anyway...wouldn't get that luxury the other way around! I'd always be wondering "what if I had the block sleeved?" Anyway that's my feeling on that.
Anyway about your question...your hp level goals seem to be close to mine, I'm going to do a sc61 but I am going to talk it over with arturbo as to what specific specs before I get one...as far as I can tell he knows his stuff and seems to be extremely helpful to others in your situation! I don't think he'd mind if you pm'd him...

Re: Finally Choosing the Turbo but need Help.... (B17aTrbo)
Believe me, I understand everyone when it comes to sleeving the motor. I would have sleeved it if I hadn't already put in the gaurd and paid for everything. If the motor pops, oh well, i'll build another. The teg is not a daily driver.
Thanks B17ATRBO. I'm mainly interested in what people have ran or would recommend, not buy sleeves, that I know.

nothing. see the t3/67 vs. sc61 thread for more information. sc61 is bandwagoning hard, neglecting other choices would be, modestly said, foolish.
