when i was tech inspecting SSCA pro rally there was alot of high end "open" car that had a filter over there HKS BOV. i was told this is to keep dirt out has anyone on the road had a problem with not putting a filter over there BOV i do not have one oh my HKS but it is also mounted up high.

Any thoughts would be good.

According to HKS, the SSQV is supposed to remain closed at vaccum - so apparently a filter is not required.

the only reason they use it on rally cars is because of all of the dirt and mud and water, you dont get that driving daily you know.

yeah the SSQV is designed so it stays shut at VAC., so it's not really needed. What you could do if you are worried about it is get the recirculation kit, and run it back to the intake pipe between the air filter and compressor wheel.
