Default Fed up... Inline Pro manifold issues.

Can't get this &@#$%ing thing to hold a bolt for the turbo through more than 3 heat cycles...

Any suggestions!?

I've tried overtorqueing the bolts and ended up with galled threads and a broken bolt. I've tried lock washers and ended up with flat washers from the heat. I've tried locktite, even the special order high temp stuff. No go. :-/

I know you guys have this manifold... What's the trick?!

I'm about to order a safety wire kit if I can't find another solution.

HEEEELP!

make sure you torque them down correctly....unevenly torqued will cause them to loosen out. I have inline pro..and have no problem with the bolts/nuts.

to save money try going to mcmaster's online site and buy the studs and locking nuts from there.

As Cinq says, are you 100% sure you are torqueing the nuts evenly? I used Stans stud kit and havent had any issues.

I tightened them about as much as I could with an open end wrench safely, because of space issues with the turbo housing...

Maybe I'm missing something. Even a shop that I had work on my car re-torqued the studs for me, and they ended up coming loose after 2 or 3 heat cycles.

I'm just going to try safety wire. It's a PITA, but I know it'll work.

mine is doing the same thing right now too. i havent tried any remedy yet b/c i havent had the mani very long. id rather not waste my time on pissant solutions. id rather do it right the first time. i was going to try loctite but i guess that would just be a waste of time. tack welding seems to be a bit permanent for my taste. bring on more suggestions.
also, i didnt see the "stud kit" on inlinepro's website. where is it?

http://www.ultralightnews.com/...e.htm

You can drill some holes in some socket head cap screws and wire them in such a way to keep them from being able to loosen... you can probably find some more details with some searching..

I did this when i re-built brakes for theme park rides the bolts cannot come loose!!

tack the bolts on. Just dont go over bored, enough so it will hold but not to much so you can break the weld, or dremel it.

wassup Jody. I used the stud kit in my inline pro mani, and it work fine wiht my sc 61. However when I had my sc50 the bolts used to fall out all the time, so I tack welded them, solved that problem...

I used the stud kit I bought from Stan when I was running the inline pro. Never had a problem. Also use lock washers... Double bolt that sh*t if you have too!

I just got studs from a hardware store with some nuts and lock washers. Used Lock-Tite on the studs, and never had a problem with them again.

Why would you have space issues w/ the turbo housing when tightening the studs? The studs are supposed to be tightened alone in the manifold first before putting on the turbo housing.

I had that problem a bunch of times but found an easy fix. Get some small worm clamps to fit around the head of the bolts. Back the screw part against the turbo flange and tighten them down. It can't turn because the clamp is against the turbine housing. Can you see what I mean or no? Maybe I can get some pics.
