Exhaust Wheel Stages
Looking to make 400+ on a built b-series VTEC block. Still debating if i'm going to use a GSR block or a B16a block. Been looking at turbos for a while now. But I don't really know anything about the exhaust wheels. I've been seeing a lot of Garret turbos with the optional stage 5 upgrade. Just looking to see what more experienced people have to stage about a stage 3 and stage 5 wheel.
I was looking at a 60 trim with a stage 5 wheel or a 60-1 with a stage 3 wheel, but still really have no clue on where to go. Would the 60 trim with a stage 5 wheel be just as good as a 60-1 as in producing power wise? Would the 60 trim also spool faster?

I hate the 60-1 with the stage 3 turbine wheel. It is much happier with a "P" trim or stage 5 turbine wheel.
The STC Silver Surfer is a 60-1 that is a good 400whp turbo. It is a great performer for the money and depending on which crank you plan on using the Silver Surfer spools around 4200rpms on setups simular to yours.

I know the stage 5 wheel is a bit bigger then the stage 3. And I know that with a stage 5 wheel some turbos can hold more power. But I was just wondering if a 60 Trim with a stage 5 wheel would be better then a 60-1 with a stage 3 wheel. In terms of spool time and make about the same power.

Re: (D16SohcVtec)
look at some compressor maps. a 57 trim would be a better option than a 60 trim.
a 60-1 or 62-1 would make much more power. the price difference between the three is very small. I would use a stage 5 wheel or p trim on any turbo I bought becuase it just lets your motor breath better and doesnt make a car spool up all that much slower.
