Adjusted valves but still a bit tappy. 550 injectors & Wiseco pistons?
Hey guys
A new build b16 turbo, we adjusted the valves as per the manual but it still sounds a lil tappy.
The car idles nice and once given a little rev the noise goes away.
A few people suggested it's maybe the 550's as they are louder also the fact the pistons need to get warm and expand?
I'm using Skunk 2 valve springs & retainers but standard valves. I assumed you would set the clearances the same regardless of what springs you use.
Any help would be great

my brian crower cams call for different lash specs, its possible that yours do too, unless you're running stock cams.
my rc 550's were a bit ticky, and now with the 720's they are really ticky.

Thanks for the reply, i'm using standard cams.
I have just took it round the block after letting it warm up nice and it's still tapping.
I'm starting to worry that i'm gonna need to strip it all down again and check these pistons.
When i drove it round the block for 2 mins it ran fine and idled nice. The fan kicked in on time and all was well except the tapping. I am hoping somebody is gonna tell me that as the valve springs are stiffer the clearances are a lil different from standard.
It's off for a tune on the 5th and i'm hoping to sort it out before then.
Thanks again

Did a search and it seems it could be the lma's?
I can't remember removing them when we stripped the block so i never soaked them in oil or anything. I thought as they were never removed they should be ok. Maybe not!
