Default exhaust advice

i currently have a greddy td05-18 G setup on my car with 2.5"DP leading into a 2.3" cat and Apexi N1 catback

it sounds really great-- quiet, low rumble etc... nothing high pitched--

i have reached the level where i can now make more power but my exhuast is holding me back-- so i need to upgrade to 3" full

the catch is i dont want to lose the current sound that i have--especially since i do a lot of highway driving.

so the question is this--i f i order all kinds of stuff from say Kteller, and weld myself...as long as i get the same length resonator, and the same ApexiN1 universal
will i get the same sound out????

or will it differ because of the increased piping.... also... will the packing in the resonator from kteller make a difference from that which Apexi uses??

thanks

You could probably run 3 inch piping with the same muffler and resonator as before and it won't sound that much louder. The muffler is the biggest thing you have to worry about when it comes to sound control.

Than Apex N1 isn't the quietest muffler either.

i beg to differ-- my N1 is very quiet in comparison to all others ive heard and its because of the turbo i just dont want to change that.

Id like to know the answer to your question as well. What exactly is responsible for the sound? I think the answer is everything, pipe size, resonators, cats, mufflers.

Im not sure if you had the Apex N1 on before the turbo was installed, but I did. Now its super quiet with my turbo and I dont like it. I want to get back to the wail it made back in my NA days. The turbo def keeps the system quiet, not the muffler.
