Evaluate this setup before it gets ran...
You know what Dave, I think your right now that i think about it. One pump has more/less teeth, may be the LS. Still the block is engineered to basically turn into a b18 deckheight with no problems.
yea, LS are different...
I realize that the deckplate puts it to around what a GSR Deckheight is...but it needs to be measured and compared to a STOCK GSR DECK HEIGHT.
This is how yu can get a rough idea of how off the cams are.
I would just degree them in anyways, though...

We might be able to use a good set up calipers and measure the deck they put on. They would read to the thousanth. I could use a micrometer, but I don't think it over hangs that much to get a good reading.
It puts the deck height exactly to what the gsr/ls is.
If your having problems with the cam timing it must have been from the original b16 deck getting milled before ERL got the block and performed the superdeck deckplate option on it. Although they also have a custom gaskey made by Cometic inbetween the plate and the block. Im not sure of the thickness, but its a single layer metal gasket. I can call the tech department to find out for sure.
When the engine was assembled did you have a piston/deck height clearance taken? This would help alleviate your problem as well.

do i have to find a host for images I cannot figure out how to post jpegs of my dyno sheets and ign and fuel maps. I can email somebody my cal. file to look at it is v1.03.cal files
Rizzo - Email me your .jpg files of the dyno and ignition and fuel maps to ranta18@yahoo.com I can host them for you on my server.

Post em up Ranta.

AEM vs Hondata is in another thread. Take it there guys.
It would be nice to degree the cams so he knows where 0,0 is, but if they were truely dyno tuned to the most power, it wouldn't matter wether they were +5 or -5, as long as thats where it makes the most power or most area under the tq currve, depending on what you are tuning for. The bad thing is they just said lets retard the exhaust 1 degree and advance the intake 1/2 degree and never tried anything else to see if it would make more or less power. Since he has adjustable cam gears, the absolute best would be to get back on the dyno and mess with them to see how it effects the hp and tq curves.
Brad - I will as soon as I get them.

Sounds like they didn't really tune the gears. I think this is feasible but you could damage something if you accidently go to far with the gears.
I agree with Dave that degreeing is the only way at this point.............to do it right at least.

I HIGHLY doubt that they will hit at 9:1 with the amount of range the Skunk2's allow. I was 11.6:1 and accidentally had my both of my cam gears advanced a tooth plus another 5 degrees and they didn't hit. That was also with Crower Stage 2 cams with a lot higher lift. He just has stock B16A cams and stock sized valves. He should be able to go all the way + and - without hitting. Although I wouldn't imagine he would need more than +5 or -5 degrees. Thats where I would stop just to ease any concerns of them hitting.
I thought that they should have done more actually tuning and mesed with the cam gears more. I know most people don't adjust them much with turbo cars, but for a motor built that much, I would want to. To be honest, I was a little disapointed with their services. A lot of wasted time and then to charge that much by the hour is what really got me.
