when erick first said 85mm i was astonished also and asked if 84 was about the same and it is and then its not. so yes 84mm is fine for me just in case something does happen.
but i always go the safe way i also have an extra sleeved block.
My goals are to be a fast track car that i can still dive on the street just detuned. there is alot of turbo b series hitting high 10's and still street driven. that is what i want to accomplish.
As for headwork goes im going through with it just in case later i do want to the head i dont have to hassle with it, it would already be done.
I like to do things once and thats it hopefully no more times!
Well thanks guys for the advice and if there is anything else that is questionable please advise ahead of time!

I agree with both ideas, but 81.55 is too puny lol hahahah
I like 82-83mm, the price of custom pistons is not as outrageous as they were before which was the downfall of going with 82 or 83. Your option back in the days was 81. 81.5, 84 or 84.5 mm
I had to change my setup several times around a few years back..I started at 81.5, then 83, 84, 84.5 and 85 at the first race last year. I trashed the piston on the 85mm bore and sold the block to an all motor guy
which he ended up running 85.5 or 86 ( I can't remember) and still run perfectly to this day..
Moral: Go with 83 ish...still bigger bore but not too big just in case **** happen...

welded combustion improves quench area for bigger bore apliccations.
i understand that if i go 84mm i have some small room to work with if something happens so thank you for your advice but im more than likely going for 84mm

It's listed as if some kind of performance mod, but it sounds like a fix for a busted head...?</TD></TR></TABLE>
welded combustion chamber is to fill up the chamber so that it decreases the chamber volume. its not necessarily a Fix. on all motor cars, its used to get more compression out of the setup. theres more to that, but thats the basic idea.
