Just wanted to give that piece a second thumbs up. It's a decent burner for a great price!

It is a great burner and a great deal. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the fact that it uses the printer port. I use the moates.net Flash&Burn now. It only use one usb cable for power and communication. The only draw back is it is a little slower than my Willems burner.

Yeah, that one will work but I personally don't like the way that burner uses 2 cables. You may want to look into the moates.net flash and burn, as it's $75 and works solely from a USB cable. It's a bit slower, and does less chips, but if you're only using it to burn roms for youf ECU then it's more than you need.

Here's a writeup about the flash&burn. $75+$6s/h

I was going to go with that burner in the pic, but went with the moates one. Glad I did. One less cable too. I've been burning with it all weekend and it works great(takes under 10 seconds to program a chip for me).

sweet! Glad this came up. Now I can confirm my parts list.

1-Moates burner
1- 28 pin zif socket
(several) chips.

What kind of chips would work best with the moates burner and zif socket?

Thanks!

Can someone Give me a little Tech Info on how this stuff works. Could I basically just tell you what my setup is and you just burn me a chip that would work with the amount of Boost/fuel/ and other components I have?

Very interested in this... let me know

thanks guys

moates is super easy to use and he's a good stand up guy. He also sells the 29c256 chips and i also bought a low profile blue zif socket off of him.

I just checked out prices. Between moates and radioshack, you should be able to get all the parts you'll need. Digikey has EVERYTHING except for the burner.

This is easy stuff to do and if I would have known how simple this was to use, I would have done it a LONG time ago .

BYE BYE VAFC

HELLO Chipped ECU running uberdata

The good thing about Moates is he has really good customer service. He helps people out with burner and romulator issues and stuff. He is even active on the uberdata forums, and I think maybe even the pgfmi forums (not sure about TE forums). With a Willem burner you are pretty much stuck having to figure it out on your own.

If you get the Moates BURN1 I think the best chip to use is the Atmel AT29C256 chip.
